Dr. Ted Baehr #fundie fundiewatch.blogspot.com

[Yes, the real Ted Baehr actually visited my blog! The following is completely unedited.]

I must post in my own defense. As founder of the Christian Film & Television Commission and www.movieguide.org, and as a proud Reagan-style Log Cabin Republican, I fully believe that America is on the verge of complete and utter annhialation!

Only we of the Christian faith understand what marriage is, what it means, and why God invented it for us. By donating to our cause at www.movieguide.org, you can help us in our mission to redeem America's family culture, and to be Family-Wise(R)!

For the record, "when king or ruler is above the law, he often acts in imperious and dictatorial ways" is NOT an invitation to those with Bush Derangement Syndrome, to spout your lies and falsehoods about our Great President (Praise Be Unto Him).

Not all relationships between humans are equal.

Look at the laws governing various business relationships. Businesses can take many forms -sole proprietorship, general partnership, limited partnership, corporations, and other forms. Those relationships are treated different under the law. If you want to have the benefits of a limited partnership, become a limited partner. Want to own part a corporation? Buy a stock.

If you think it is unfair that a general partnership is treated differently from a limited partnership, which is treated differently than a corporation, remember that there is no fundamental human right to have one's general partnership be given the right and privileges of a corporation. And any general partner in a general partnerships who argues such a case in court would be laughed out of court.

Now, given the differences between men and women, how could a same-sex union be equal to an opposite-sex union? They can't .

Children are best raised by a man and a woman living together as husband and wife and acting as primary caretakers.

[Other posters assert that this is factually incorrect and logically flawed. Children of gay unions do NOT fare worse than children of straight unions, and governments do not decide who can get married based on how well their hypothetical children are likely to do.]

•85% of all children that exhibit behavioral disorders come from fatherless homes (U.S. Center for Disease Control);
•90% of all homeless and runaway children are from fatherless homes (U.S. Bureau of the Census);
•80% of rapists motivated with displaced anger come from fatherless homes (Criminal Justice & Behavior, Vol 14, p. 403-26, 1978);
•70% of juveniles in state-operated institutions come from fatherless homes (U.S. Dept. of Justice, Special Report, Sept 1988);
•85% of all youths sitting in prisons grew up in a fatherless home (Texas Dept. of Corrections 1992).
•5 times more likely to commit suicide;
•32 times more likely to run away;
•20 times more likely to have behavioral disorders;
•14 times more likely to commit rape;
•9 times more likely to drop out of high school;
•10 times more likely to abuse chemical substances;
•9 times more likely to end up in a mental institution;
•20 times more likely to end up in prison(1).

[My major objection to fundies like...Micheal is that they want everyone to live by their rules. They don't like abortions, so abortion should be made illegal. They like school prayer, so it should become mandatory. They don't like same-sex marriage, so gays and lesbians should not marry. In short, they want people to be tolerant of their beliefs but they refuse to tolerate any beliefs other than their own.]

So you object to authority in general, since people in authority want everyone to live by their rules.

Are you an anarchist or something?

[Among the war-torn nations, the poverty, and the human rights abuses, the one goal that gets you people fired up more than anything else is to make sure a certain group doesn't have rights?]

Apparently it does not bother you that among the war-torn nations, the poverty, and the human rights abuses, the one goal that gets you people fired up more than anything else is to make sure marriage is redefined for the queers?

[Look at the balancing test: "Hmm, what should I do today? Send money to Darfur? Research eco-friendly energy? Nah! I think I'll try and take people's rights away!"]

Look at the balancing test: "Hmm, what should I do today? Send money to Darfur? Research eco-friendly energy? Nah! I think I'll try and sue same-sex marriage into law in defiance of majority will.

So, let me see if I understand correctly:
ALL christians who reject evolution are just regurgitating the idiocies of others, but pro evolution people are intelligent, thinking people? Is that about right?
Seems to me that Both sides have chosen which person to parrot, unless, of course, each and everyone has done his or her own research, testing and scientific legwork to develope his or her own conclusion!

...

As for the idea of adding genetic material (and I DO understand the concept, fully), evolution would directly oppose the second law of thermodynamics, which, basically states, that all things break down and lead to disorder, therefore "higher life would NOT come from lower life.

...

Of course one could argue that man's intellect is the trump card. Is it?
Man, as a group, is not very inventive. Man learns what is taught, and that is often only after certain force is brought to bare.
EVERY habitat has predators that can destroy man, when man is separated from his technology.
Beyond all else, man's self destruction would aid all other methods that occur naturally, to end man's existance. Survival of the fittest would most assuredly have seen man's extinction millenia ago, if it were really true.
Survival of the fittest is true in only a limited sense and within a species, not as an inter-species, winner take all scenario.

["No one gets to be the final authority on God's word."]

Is that a moral absolute you are trying to assert? Unfortunately, according to your own "nobody has the right" logic, you don't have the right to tell me I am not the final authority on God's word.

Now we get to the part where you embarass the entire Darwinist community and end the debate entirely. However, since I know you weren't thinking when you said it, I'll just point it out to you and get a good laugh. "There is no one claiming one species has ever magically turned into another." Hmmm... I suppose you are right. They can't call it 'magic' because that would imply something supernatural. They call it "evolution," but it still reeks of the same dishonesty. Why would you make a statement that completely and utterly undermines your entire campaign against Ben Stein and Fundies? If "no species ever magically turned into another" then we all came to be exactly as we are and only microevolution refined us. The only way we could have come to be exactly as we are is if we were CREATED this way. This would require a CREATOR and thus CREATIONISM or INTELLIGENT DESIGN to have a strong foothold in the discussion. Do some homework, apply some logic to your arguments and think before you speak. It'll save you the trouble of being humiliated in public.
