What we are really saying here is that delayed adolescence, delaying marriage for education/career advancement, and dating while trying to do these things is simply foolish. If you are actively dating, then you should be considering marriage as the natural end of that action. If you believe that you must/have too delay marriage for what ever reason, don't be dating.

I can't find it but someone mentioned kissing in this thread, and I had previously mentioned Paul's command for a man not to touch a woman[...]

So early research evidence points to the fact that the human body reacts to kissing by the release of hormones in the body which lead to increased levels of arousal, and attachment. Kissing leads to sex. Maybe not the first, second or third time, but the act of kissing is a prelude to the sex act.

Dudes, keep your lips off of the lady until you have a license.

Heck yeah! Nothing is impossible with God! My advice? Don't wait so long to get hitched, and don't even date anyone that's not as committed to purity as you are. Spend a lot of your "alone time" in public places.

My hubby and I made it to our wedding day with a funny sort of strategy: when it seemed so frustrating that we just didn't have an outlet to express how deep our love had become, we took a Snickers break! (Yeah, the candy bar.) After all, "Nothing Satisfies Like a Snickers!" It seriously helped lighten the mood. (We had to laugh at ourselves with our pathetic little candy bars.) And it was a nice way to distract a one track mind, while giving ourselves a little reward for keeping it together.

The gay activists have oppressive power in Britain. We show tolerance to ‘gays’ and get tyranny in return by Peter Hitchen, about how the Homonazi Gedankenpolizei force approval of homosexual behaviour, and even took children away from loving grandparents to give to a gay "couple" to adopt. I also documented how a bishop was fined for refusing to hire a practising homosexual. The BBC execs also admitted a pro-gay and christophobic bias.

As a former evolutionist myself, now when I look at the evidence for and against various theories of origins the only logical explanation to the mental gymnastics most die hard evolutionists go through is pride. It's what kept the established state church believing in the idea that the heavenly bodies revolved around the earth as the unsaved scientists taught (despite what the Bible says) for centuries, and it's what kept them believing the earth was flat like the ungodly scientists of the day believed (despite what the Bible says).

And look at the result of the last election, where a radical pro-abortion extremist and infanticide supporter was elected President, carrying many young "evangelicals". Why should we be surprised, when so many of them have been indoctrinated for 12 years in the government schools by teachers in the pro-Democrat, pro-abortio NEA? If you send your kids to Caesar, then don't be surprised if they come back as Romans.

Celsete, think about it this way; if you're opting NOT to stay home with your kids, because you love your job, doesn't mean that your putting your wants and needs before those of your children. Yeah, you could be doing something totally worthwhile, but the Bible makes it pretty clear that the most important people for a mother to serve are the ones in her family... and everyone else after that. I know lots of moms who loved their jobs and put them off until their kids were older or grown up. They knew that their kids needed them and that while helping other people was important, raising their own kids to the best of their ability was their JOB.

I have to say I kind of agree with the woman in Liz's comment. Maybe not in such harsh or judgemental terms, but the fact of the matter is; if you're not willing to give up a JOB for your kids, then, maybe your kids aren't a priority. And if you're not willing to make your kids a priority then, you've got some praying to do, because that's what God's asking of you.

We "change" the world when we are living in the Spirit among the people, not when we force it to be what we want/think it should be.

[Chelsea responds]

There are a few posts here that allude to the same thing. I take exception to this argument, based on the following:

*Some people don't learn by example. Some people could care less about example. I wouldn't discourage anyone from doing so, but we live in a fallen world.

*How can anyone here talk about Christians "forcing" (a favorite buzzword) their views down the throats of others? Isn't this what the homosexual lobby is doing? We are merely defending our nation by opposing them, which is our right.

*If we only live by example, we are essentially keeping the Gospel to ourselves, and not sharing it with the world. And this, of course, is contrary to the Great Commission.

I will not retreat solely into example, but turn outwards and defend the Lord whenever I get the chance.

Okay, so back to God's sovereignty.... God says that children are a blessing. He tells us to fruitful and multiply. He knows how many people the Earth can hold, so why do we presunme to be more intelligent than God? When I get married, I will have children. End of story. How many? Well, that is up to Him. The same God that closes the womb opens it (remember Hannah, Elizabeth, Leah, Ruth, Sarah). God is in control of everything, and He works out everything for His own good. He is the one we are to please, not eachother, not the environmentalists, not ourselves. Why do we forget that God has EVERYTHING UNDER CONTROL!

[Regarding Prop 8; the entire post, and all the comments, could qualify for this site]

I've never been one to buy into the gloom and doom prophecies among many believers that persecution is imminent for American Christians. But the reaction by the mainstream media and Hollywood elite over the passage of Proposition 8 in California has been so profoundly antagonistic toward Christians, I'm beginning to wonder if there's something to those dire predictions.

...

During my time on Capitol Hill, I had a Christian mentor who would say that if persecution ever comes to America, it will begin over political issues surrounding homosexuality. And when I say persecution, I mean being locked up, beaten or even killed for proclaiming Scriptural truths in the public square.

Not just being openly ridiculed or mocked among the secular masses ... though that may be precisely how persecution begins.

Which is why I'm a little unnerved by what I'm seeing from the mainstream media and Hollywood elites.

This week, Ben Roethlisberger and the 5-2 Pittsburgh Steelers travel to FedEx field to battle the 6-2 Washington Redskins ... and their scantily clad cheerleaders.

Forget about the much anticipated match-up between the Steelers stingy run defense and the NFL's leading rusher Clinton Portis, can Big Ben keep from being distracted by the Redskins' cheerleaders who do their pre-game stretching near the opposing team?

[...]

Of course it's a distraction for the players. And it's a temptation for the viewers. It's one of the reasons I'm glad I don't watch NFL games anymore. My wife's loving "Turn away!" still rings in my head. =)

Here's the challenge for the Christian woman: maintaining her purity and yet somehow cultivating an awareness of how men operate.

To work this out in the specifics is more than a little difficult. In my own Christian walk I've gone from the extremely egalitarian type (at one point in time I would have been all for the idea that one should divide up the house chores evenly) to now being the "oppressed evangelical". I like the idea of being barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen.
Now, I've done some not-so-respectable things to get me to this point all while following Christ. I have done some of these things to attempt to understand men and how they operate.

While I have realized error in my ways, at the same time I wouldn't have been able to learn what I have learned and appreciate what I now appreciate about the opposite gender.
There are is strong tension that is to be held and a tight rope that one must walk in order to maintain her purity and not fall into the tempting thought of "men are pigs".

...being a woman, i'm not personally bothered by the women's beach volleyball attire. but that's just because i'm a girl. just the same, i don't think it's right, either. if i had a brother, i would NOT have let him watch their games.

the thing i personally had a BIG problem with was the men's diving duos. now THAT i had a hard time with. we women don't typically have the visual problems like men do - i sure don't - and i'm not opposed to a guy with his shirt off or anything, but a speedo? why can't they wear the suits that the swimmers do? or at least streamlined swim shorts? for one, speedos show WAY too much skin. two, did anyone notice where every guy's hands flew once the camera showed them under the surface of the water? and it's not just under the water... they're CONSTANTLY checking to make sure the thing is in place. now THAT is hard for me to take.

oh, and while i'm at it... did anyone hear the brief interviews of the two american guys? how gay did THEY sound... SO. DARN. GROSS.

for me, michael phelps is INFINITELY more interesting to watch. he's classy, gracious, doesn't talk like a fruitcake, and if the whole thing comes down to attractiveness for nbc... if you ask me, as a woman, michael phelps is absolutely irresistible because he's kind and is properly covered.

and he WINS!!!!!!!!!
