Without sounding to critical, I must say that most people I encounter who believe in evolution, are quite literally uneducated people. I will go with the 'fossil planting' to explain this. God presented us with a ready-made earth. Nothing is impossible with God. Maybe He even copied another 'earth' as it was and presented us with the copied version. I feel that you underestimate an all-powerful God. He can snap His finger and make another billion 'earths' appear in 6 days. He can do as He pleases.
So basically there is a lot of evidence that indicates the Earth is young, and there is no evidence to indicate the Earth is old.

I'd say the earth is in pretty good shape for a billion year-old planet. When you consider the damage that meteors, natural disasters, etc. would have caused the planet over billions of years, it's reasonable to conclude that the earth is probably much younger than that.
