Could we please dispense with any patronizing nonsense about Darwin being less than the messiah of a materialistic religion that pretends to find its justification in science. If Darwin was not the alpha and omega of evolution, the he was either a knave or a fool or a madman. Darwin did not leave us any other options. He did not intend to.

William Dembski is either a knave, a fool or a madman.
I don't think he's a fool, it's his fundie followers who are fools.
@Paschal Wagner: He wasn't the messiah, he was a very naughty boy.
Not just naughty. Pretty stinky, too!
(How does one hyperlink in this particular set-up?)
(ETA: okay, hyperlinks work now; guess I messed up the previous time I tried them.)
I too salute thee, Dr. Whom.
And Dembski just makes shit up as he goes. A common trait among fundies. I wonder. Is he using Hovind's enforced silence to challenge him for "most discredited fool ever"?
Heard it before. Bonus point for using 3+ syllable words coherently, if somewhat excessively, but it's the same "evolution is a religion too!!" arguement with a "and don't argue with me, 'cos I'm right!" taped on.
Next!
With 16 people rating this comment, either 3 appear to not know who Dembski is and rated this statement a 4, or his mother gave him a 2. By the end of the month, the trolls and trogs will have this rating down even further. This is a good time to calibrate everyone's rating system, because this statement from Dembski is definitely a five-point fundie.
Can we dispense with any patronizing nonsense about ID being more than Christian creationism that pretends to be science so IDiots can proselytise in schools. If God is not the "unknown designer" of intelligent design, then it was either Jesus or the Holy Ghost. Design proponents did not leave us any other options. They did not intend to.
-- Fixed.
If a 19th century scientist can set up an entire religion with himself as the messiah just by making some observations in a handful of books that few people read, then surely anyone with a 20th century education should be able to put a complete, intelligible idea into an understandable paragraph. Preferably a paragraph that doesn't derail the train of thought and crash it right into Crazy Town Station.
I'm asking for way too much, aren't I?
If Darwin was not the alpha and omega of evolution, the he was either a knave or a fool or a madman.
I've read this sentence at least a dozen times and just can't figure out WTF he is trying to say. Yes, I realize that it's an "homage" to CS Lewis, but he fcuked it up beyond all belief.
Darwin was not the undisputed "alpha" of evolution, though he was important in the begining of the ToE. However, the ToE has been expanded and honedover the last 150 years, so Darwin is obviously not the "omega" of evolution. Nor was Darwin a knave, fool or madman. Patently he didn't intend to be any of those. To say so shows that you know little to nothing of Darwin, the ToE or good sense. In short, you're an idiotic ass.
How did:
"Hey, everybody, I think I know how evolution works! It's descent with modification, culled by natural selection. See? Look at these finches!"
... come to mean:
"BOW DOWN BEFORE YOUR MESSIAH, MORTALS!"
I am trying to see the.. I mean there has to be somethi-....
...
...
What the fuck? How the hell- did this man ever even take a biology class? how the hell did he ever make it through a college?
EDIT:
@Papabear: You said what I wished too, and what I like to think I would have, had I not inarticulate with rage.
@Tracer: I like that one, do mind if I put it on my desk?
Darwin had a reasonable idea from his observation of the Galapagos finches. Others built on that to encompass all species, including ours. Evidence was found which strongly supports the premise.
Darwin is not a prophet or messiah, Dumbski. Stop projecting already!
Oh for fucks sake.
We don't worship Darwin. He was neither the Alpha (probably Anaxiamander (611-547 B.C.)) nor the Omega.
Darwin wrote one fucking book, with his version of the theory. A lot of work has gone into it since then.
"If Darwin was not the alpha and omega of evolution, the he was either a knave or a fool or a madman. Darwin did not leave us any other options. He did not intend to."
So the complement to "alpha and omega of evolution" is "knave or a fool or a madman?" Will someone explain to Billy-Boy Dumbski how the idea of a "complement" works, possibly by drawing the damned fool a Venn Diagram in crayons with Sesame Street characters? After all, this is the same fool who defines design as "the set theoretic complement of regularity and chance." It ain't helping him one iota when he's demonstrating here he doesn't quite know what a complement is.
Dumbski should go back to adding fart sound effects to Dover trial video clips.
Could we please dispense with any patronizing nonsense about Darwin being less than the messiah of a materialistic religion that pretends to find its justification in science.
Could we please dispense with the patronizing nonsense of inventing your own definition for words, and return to speaking English instead of your own self-invented language (applies equally to the quote and his half-assed mathematical proofs)?
"If Darwin was not the alpha and omega of evolution, the he was either a knave or a fool or a madman"
Or a scientist who did the best he could do with the information at hand and tools available to him, which allowed him to pioneer evolutionary theory, but did not allow him to obtain every last facet of it conclusively through divine revelation.
Could we please dispense with any patronizing nonsense about Jesus being less than the messiah of an irrational religion that pretends to find its justifications in ancient myths. If Jesus was not the alpha and omega of Christianity, then he was either a knave or a fool or a madman. Jesus did not leave us any other options. He did not intend to.
Jesus = madman solved next
or maybe he was just a naturalist who made some good observations and created a simple, elegant, and enduring theory to explain them?
And anyway, Darwin wasn't the first person to come up with a theory of evolution, and a lot of work has been done to refine and update his theory since his time, because Darwin had no idea about genetics (in particular) so some of his ideas had to be revised when we learned about genetics.
Atheist is not a religion.
Darwin put forward a theory which, up to now, is checking out OK as a guideline and is constantly tested.
As for disbelieving science, how come you're on the Internet?
Darwin was definitely not the Omega of evolutionary theory, and I also wouldn't call him the Alpha, there we're other postulates about evolution before Darwin. I'd place him right around Delta, maybe Gamma.
Dumbski-"Could we please dispense with any patronizing nonsense about Darwin being less than the messiah of a materialistic religion that pretends to find its justification in science."
Translation-"Will you stop patronizing me so I can be patronizing and ignorant to you?"
Sorry, Dumbski, if you are being mocked, perhaps it's for cause.
You sound pretty patronizing yourself, Dumbo. Especially for an idiot in basic need of a dictionary to look up words like messiah, religion, science, evolution, and materialistic. I would suggest you find a biography of Darwin or the "Origin of Species" but that seems a bit beyond your capacity since your forte appears to be "Chick tracts" and Creation Institute pamphlets.
WTF is this guy raving about? Sounds like somebody knows approximately shit-all about science.
Fail. Go back to high school biology class, pull your head out of your rectum, and PAY ATTENTION THIS TIME.
Darwin was a keen observer of the natural world, and documented his observations fully. But if Darwin had never existed, Wallace would have published (probably sooner than he did) and the theory of evolution would still be as valid and as well-known. We don't worship Darwin.
...and I think you're just pissed because you weren't born early enough to participate in that great theory...
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
