[Re: Oprah]
We are certainly living in the last days. And she has been responsible for deceiving masses of people who want nothing more than their ears tickled....tickled right into hell.
How happy she is making the enemy! And God's wrath will be upon her if she doesn't repent.

You know who else believed they were living in the last days? The Christians who were actually there when Jesus died. You know why they believed that? He said he would return in their lifetimes.
Look, I know it's hard to let go of something you've been waiting for for a long time. I've had the same problem myself. But we've both got to admit to ourselves, they're never going to make an Ender's Game movie. Wait, what are we talking about?
OK, so exactly why is Oprah evil?
I guess anyone who has a lot of fans and makes a lot of money must be evil & Satanic, since it's only supposed to be Christian televangelists getting rich off large followings.
@Doubting Thomas:
Awhile back, I believe Oprah asserted something along the lines of Jesus Christ not being the only way to get into heaven, or something like that. It involved some New Age type stuff as well. Long story short, this set the fundies off like a nuclear bomb.
And she has been responsible for deceiving masses of people who want nothing more than their ears tickled....tickled right into hell.
This is one of the weirdest and most hilarious things I've ever read on this site. And that's saying something. The mental images it creates are amazing.
She's on television, an A/V medium. Doesn't she tickle both eyeball and ear?
Does this mean she gets sent to hell twice?
Lady, you are going to die malnourished and unsexed with nothing accomplished because of your beliefs.
Which, ironically, makes you Oprah's target audience.
OK I have heard the name "Oprah Winfrey" but her influence doesn't go far beyond the US borders. She is mid afternoon telly outside of the US (at best).
So that leads me to ask - is the US the centre of God's world for your fundies?
US is way less than 10% of the worlds population, and the fundy element is probably less than 10% (I really hope) of US population. Do they seriously think that God (if it existed) is only interested in them?
Man these Rapture Ready people are willing to say that anything and everything is the sign of the "last days". For now, it's Oprah's announcement that she is ending her show in 2011. Wow, what will these Rapture Ready think is a sign next?
What? So, excuse me while I try (foolishly, I know) to make an iota of sense out of this: Fundies don't like Oprah. She's been on TV for decades. Now she's ending her show, meaning she won't be on TV anymore. So she won't be talking to people on air about all the stuff fundies find so frightening (i.e. anything that isn't straight out of the KJV Bible). And this is a sign of the End Times (TM)? Someone fundies hate is stopping doing something they hate her doing, and THAT's a sign of the last days?
*facepalm*
They just don't ever think this stuff through for so much as a nanosecond, do they?

I wouldn't call her evil. She has been extremely irresponsible over the years though. From supporting Tipper Gore's censorship and witch hunt campaign, Jenny McCarthy's anti-vaccination campaign, or just promoting outright frauds without doing any sort of background check on their stories.
She wanted to open a school for underprivileged girls in Africa. That's certainly noble, except instead of focusing on education, Oprah's school focused on being a country club. It was an incredible waste of money, that could have been used to educate even more underprivileged children.
Also, the school didn't bother to do background checks on their employees, and some of the girls ended up being raped, and abused by staff. This is fucking Africa we are talking about here. Not some romanticized motherland, but a very real place, where rape is unfortunately very common, and often the victims face ostracism or even death, while their rapists rarely get punished. Greater care should have been taken in hiring the school's staff.
@ Tallyho
She's mid afternoon telly here too, we just obviously have a hell of a lot more bored housewives.
@ Lowkey
What really pissed me off is when she was asked why she didn't help out inner city kids in America, she said because they would rather have iPods and sneakers. When the fuck are we going to realize that it's class, not race that's tearing us apart. Race is a convenient excuse that keeps the poorer people at each others throats.
I'd really like to know her real reasons behind opening that school. To feel more like a goddess? Tax reasons? Because it sure as hell had nothing to do with poor black girls not being able to get education.
Confused?
