It's ironic that homosexuals speak about not wanting people to tell them how to live, but then they demand that they can be “married,” in essence living how society expects heterosexuals to live.

Homosexuality is a mental illness; those afflicted with it are inclined to not use their reproductive anatomy for its intended use. Psychologically, that has to be a damaging trait, yet homosexuals embrace it. That's like a man who refuses to walk, opting to always sit and use his legs only to move his chair in and out. Sure, you can live that way, but it's a waste of a good set of legs.

Yet you never hear these people going on about all the other "mental illnesses" that make people "inclined to not use their reproductive anatomy for its intended use". Not wanting children is apparently a mental illness. So is not enjoying penis-in-vagina sex. Choosing lifelong celibacy, which is often done for religious reasons? Mental illness. Don't forget we humble asexuals, of course.

Though of course, that brings me to another point: plenty of gay people (and aces) DO reproduce. So... a lesbian who gets pregnant through a sperm donor is a-ok: a straight woman who gets her tubes tied is "mentally ill", according to this guy's twisted logic. They never think, do they?

So? All that is is asking for equal rights. They aren't telling anybody else how to live, so there is no hypocrisy involved. Homosexuality has not been considered a mental illness for more than thirty years, or is that a Satanic conspiracy to you? Yet for some reason you have no problem with people who choose to be celibate, you disgusting hypocrite.

Choice, jackass.

Being told, "Don't be gay. It's icky," isn't giving anyone a choice. Saying, "If you want to get married like everyone else, go for it," gives choice. Nobody is telling or forcing gay people to get married and "[live] how society expects heterosexuals to live."

No. It's not. Actual doctors who study such things for a living for a good portion of their lives said so about 30 or 40 years ago.

It's abnormal, I get that. It scares you, I get that. But it hurts no one.

IT HURTS NO ONE.

It doesn't change the fact that gay people can still function perfectly well. Being gay doesn't mean you can't properly interact with the world around you. It doesn't prevent you from having meaningful relationships and friendships, like alcoholism or another other addiction does. It doesn't affect the way you percieve reality, like schizophrenia does. You don't share your body with another personality, like you would if you had Dissociative Identity Disorder. It doesn't cause you to be completely unable to care for others, like Anti-Social Personality Disorder, Narcissistic Personality Disorder, sociopathy, or psychopathy do. It doesn't prevent you from interacting with the world properly because of a debilitating, irrational fear, the way a phobia does. It doesn't force you to perform certain tasks over and over, the way Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder does.

It's not a fucking mental illness. It's simply another way to feel sexual attraction. Leave us the fuck alone and let us be happy for a fucking change.

No, it's not "ironic." Heteronormativity assumes gay and bisexual individuals ought to marry members of the opposite sex. Therefore, they are actually wanting to live their lives contrary to how heterosexist society expects them to, and people like you not wanting to let them do that is the whole problem.

Every mainstream medical and mental-health organization disagrees with you, including the American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Psychological Association, and the National Alliance of Social Workers, amongst many others. They also all cite a boatload of peer-reviewed studies and empirical evidence to explain why, so unless you can do the same, such a statement essentially amounts to slander.

So are infertile and impotent couples. So are couples who use contraception. So are couples who just don't enjoy having sex. So are voluntarily celibate members of the clergy. Your point? Either way, homosexual and bisexual individuals are innately and instinctively attracted to members of the same sex, so having sex with the same sex is the "intended" use of their reproductive organs for them.

When homosexuals don't want certain people to tell them how to live, they usually mean bigot hateful blabber like: "You are sinful! Repent! Pray to God that he takes away this homosexual sin from you! Work hard, and never engage in any immoral acts with another person of the same sex! And don't even think of falling in love or even marry somebody of the same sex!!! People like you should be locked up in camps and treated until you become normal!!! I don't know where you see any irony, "Mike Brooks". Homosexuals who want to marry just want to live like everybody else, together with their beloved partner. And they don't want to be shunned and treated like scum, just as nobody wants to be shunned and mistreated.

Nobody is forcing heterosexuals to marry, stupid. One cousin, one brother-in-law and one brother of mine is living with their loved ones and their children, without being married. They don't see the need to be married.
The only difference in Sweden is inheritance laws. The one you live with has lots of rights, but not inheritance rights.
Which the person living with millionaire Stieg Larsson found out to her detriment. His estranged brother and father got the millions, she got nothing.
