Ah, that's an easy one. Initially, the first humans were perfect, with no need to adapt to anything. The committing of Original Sin, however, changed all that, resulting in their being cast out of the paradise called Eden and into a world of much toil and suffering, where to this very day, we must all change to adapt ourselves to the desires of the heavenly Father and His Son, and thus not only better endure the hardships of this world, but assure ourselves of everlasting reward in the world to come.

Point blank, if I had just one verifiable, falsifiable and testable proof of an intelligent designer I would INSTANTLY stop being an atheist and parade it boldly and loudly across the entire globe daring people to prove me wrong. I would win so many scientific prizes and cash monies.. the catholic church and the mosques would all be kissing my ass to get me to sway in their direction...
