[On why vaccines which prevent cervical cancer is a bad idea]
I'm all for preventing disease, but I also think it is my duty as a Christian to stand against anything that facilitates sin - and such wholesale vaccinations as mentioned here are nothing but preparatory exercises to accomodate bad decisions. And sex outside of marriage presents a bigger problem - a longer lasting problem - than cervical cancer.
As medicine continues to trim away the checks our creator placed on our behavior, it's important for those of us in the Christian faith to remind the world that there is still a very good reason for abstaining from sin - whether or not all the consequences remain in play.

Why are there more cases of teenage pregnancies in the Bible-thumping, fire-and-brimstone preaching South than anywhere else in the U.S.? If religion isn't going to keep them from having sex, this vaccine certainly isn't going to be an encouragement for them to have sex.

Vaccines are stronger than the power of god? That's not much of a god. I was thinking the same thing. Still, being vaccinated sounds easier than having sex in an iron chariot.
The really sad result of this kind of group-dumb is that many young women, through no fault of their own, will suffer in the future from a horrible disease that could have been prevented. And why do these idiots think only extramarital intercourse is likely to result in the spread of HPV? Unlike AIDS, you don't need penetration to catch HPV, just close genital contact, something many fundie teens seem to think is still equivalent to 'saving your virginity for marriage'.
Fuck you. I had to go through a hellish 4 months when they thought I HAD cervical cancer, at the ripe old age of 21. Do you know what those tests are like? Ever had to wait until the doctor left the room so you could curl up on the floor and vomit? Ever feel like your insides were being very, very slowly pulled out and all you could do was lie there and cry and hold the nurses's hand?
Which sin?, raping a woman?, men being unfaithfull?, OR JUST THE FACT THAT A VACCINE DOESN´T MEAN THAT THE WOMAN IS GOING TO HAVE SEX?. Besides, sex outside marriage is to PREVENT POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES, not consequences to prevent sex outside marriage.

That's it, when I land a job with medical coverage (or make enough to pay for my own), I am going to look into getting this vaccination. Not only for my own peace of mind, but to piss off these people so bad they get closer to dying of stress-related heart attacks.

Here in the UK the plan is to vaccinate girls prior to puberty (at ages 11-12). Apart from the usual small handful of religious nuts, no-one disagrees with this.
It seems there are two vaccines available. One protects against HPV, the other against both HPV and the virus which causes genital warts. The second costs about 15% more than the first.
Guess which vaccine our wonderful government has decided to buy?
People are going to have sex, whether they've had the HPV vaccine or not, so why not give the vaccine?
What's "longer lasting" than a deadly disease? I had sex outside of marriage with my now husband for about ten years before we married. Where's the big and long-lasting problem in that? Oh, you mean Hades? Avici? Naraka? Or Gehenna?
Honey, if YOU want to abstain from this arbitrary "sin" thing; go ahead. But let other people manage their lives their way! OK?
