so it's totally wrong, bogus, and some bold faced lie that some professor told you that the Earth receives energy (from the Sun) and that is how (evolution) overcomes the Second Law (of Thermodynamics). It's just a bold face lie. It is true we receive energy but it is not going to overcome the Second Law.

You're right, there's no overcoming the second law of thermodynamics. Unfortunately for you, however, 'overcomes' is not the correct word to use in this situation. The second law of thermodynamics only applies to a closed system. The presence of the sun means that the Earth is not a closed system. Thus, evolution doesn't have to overcome the second law of thermodynamics because the second law of thermodynamics doesn't apply to this situation.
The law is not overcome, ever.
The Sun's huge amount of entropy and the energy it sends us give us the energy to lower entropy and form life.
You are a freaking dumbass.
Evolution doesn't overcome the 2nd law of thermodynamics, the 2nd law simply doesn't apply.
Truth radio. That's an interesting moniker for such a bold-faced liar.
Fucking hell, Hovind, even your bloody REFRIGERATOR says you fail.
P.S: AMPM, porn makes baby Jesus cry.
If you're not religious, then DIAF anyway.
<<Would put on scientist hat if there were one.>>
Sunlight comes in to the Earth as photons with a particular distribution of energy, peaked in the visible. 30% are reflected, the rest are absorbed. That totals ~240 watts per square meter on average.
Almost exactly the same amount of energy goes out again as infrared. But those infrared photons each have just about 5% the energy of visible photons. Result: 20 photons go out for each one that comes in.
Entropy = "disorder of a system" and is related to the number of different ways to arrange the particles. There are many many more ways to arrange 20 photons than there are to arrange 1.
Result: the Earth is a constant producer of lots and lots of entropy. And thus life is possible.
You Fail Physics Forever.
The second law states that all things deteriorate. The thing is, evolution is always being renewed with fresh blood. An individual deteriorates, it's offspring begin anew from a different position potentially. Change that position enough times and you end up with a new species.
YES IT FUCKING DOES
SHUT THE FUCK UP
Someone is mad because his favorite sciency-sounding argument has been shot down. A lot of creationists, such as AIG, have long since realized how stupid the thermodynamics argument is and have stopped using it. This one is determined to hang on to it, apparently because it sounds really...sciency.
Evolution doesn't break the Second Law anyways, nor does the Second Law have anything to do with order or information.
If you seriously think order can't come from disorder, then try, just try , to mix oil and water and then tell me that order can't come from disorder.
Hovind types love to present themselves as scientific, the better to spread misinformation like this. "The Sun? That doesn't provide energy. You must have been listening to a real scient,,,err I mean some Liberal Heritic. Ignore the Sun, it's nothing"
And it works with their dum as hell audience. I don't know how many times I've seen the Creationists throw the Laws Of Thermodynamics out there as proof of Earth having to be,,,what,,, super-magic I guess.
PROTIP: The novelisation of "Terminator III" (detailing how the Temporal Displacement project used a huge solar reflector in space, to channel radiant energy to a facility on Earth, so as to generate the Petawatts of power required for the project to work) is not non-fiction (but a book with a burning bush that talks is, according to you fundies). And please do point out to me, lies radio, just one organic lifeform which incorporates Gallium Arsenide Solar Cells .
...say, a cyber -lizard? [/snark]
How does that "overcome" the second law? It adheres to it. With no outside energy source, a system will decay into entropy. However, as I am certain billions of plants will tell you, that the sun is a really potent outside energy source.
Ahem...
What's the other three laws?
.......
*tumbleweed rolls past*
What's the first one?
Oh Right, yeah, that energy can neither be CREATED nor destroyed.
So how tha fuck can you accuse us of breaking thermodynamic laws when A)Evolution does not break the 2nd law as earth is not a closed system and B) Your OBVIOUSLY TRUE STORY of the bearded sky fairy just broke the first one. You fall at the first hurdle of your own argument.
Conservative Christian Dr. Buzz Aldrin wouldn't doubt the necessity of the solar panels on the International Space Station. Especially as he's a Space Scientist .
Considering his unique perspective on the matter of all things astronomy, would you dare question him , especially as he can reconcile his Christian beliefs with scientific fact , including this one: Cosmology =/= Biology .
Said solar cells on the ISS. Leaves on plants. Electricity generation. Photosynthesis. Go and live in a cave, which'll then be sealed up, if you think that you don't require the Sun, o lies radio.
Confused?
