Could it be because satan owns the world wide media? Especially the media in the USA? Of course he does! Since satan owns the media of the entire country, satan uses his human agents, yes men and women who are infested with demons to control all of the news agencies of the USA using a iron fist! Nothing and I mean NOTHING can get on the news unless satan through his human agents per-approves it first. And this is why the murdering of over 2000 babies a day, right in the mother's stomach is not being talked about, this is why it is being covered up, why it is being PURPOSELY COVERED UP by all the media outlets of the entire country!

I agree with you about the Satanic TV people, Garrett Felender....but not for the reasons you state.

Only a demon would conjure up junk like the Kardashians, Honey Boo Boo, Jerry Springer, FOX Non-News & cause the rampant & perverse network decay of educational & music-oriented cable stations (The Learning Channel with no learning, MTV with no videos or even music-oriented shows, History Channel with aliens & doomsday stuff, BET with non-stop booty-shaker/bling-bling/ghetto minstrelsy, etc.).

And don't get me started on canceling GOOD shows that people actually watch because the ratings are not instantly over the roof!

But that's not what you're harping on, is it? You're harping on the fact that there are a few strong, intelligent female characters, LGBTs characters that are sympathetic, different types of families shown, and one of the cutest Cheerios commercials ever!

And if there was a bunch of women cannibalizing cute little infants by the thousands, if sure the media would be harping on that! Either that or you've confused the female reproductive system with the digestive system.

@SpukiKitty: From time to time I see Germans arguing for closing our public broadcasters. I then point them to America and ask them what they think happens when privately hired, sensationalist journatlists are the only source of information for an entire country. They normally change their minds very quickly.

The deteriation of mass middle-quality programs seems to necessary to develope higher quality television, this is because producing budgets can be balanced better. A reality show doesn't cost much money, a Mad Men on the other hand costs a lot of money. So the good/ok/shit ratio changes, before there was not much good, a lot of ok and some shit, today it's some good, almost no ok and a lot of shit. One would think that all this reality stuff would have made the networks and cable stations a lot of money, but ironicly that isn't the case, fictional material has become increasingly costly to produce and the revenue of the five main English networks has been shrinking for years (which is essentially why the plots of TV shows have become crazier and crazier).

Who owns News International? Rupert Murdoch. A born-again Christian.

I guess things go in cycles. Like you said, a big glut of crapola must precede an new trend of quality.

This may be simplistic but I blame a lot on this on Rupert Murdoch. Everything he touches...he destroys!

BEFORE MURDOCH:

MTV & VH1 were all about music!

TLC & Discovery were genuinely educational.

History was about history (even if it was heavy on the Hitler).

BET was more than Rap, it had R&B, Jazz, Blues, Oldies, Black History & intelligent programs covering legit concerns, issues, trends & activism in the Black Community. Even the Rap was varied...Old Skool, Political, Stupid Booty/Bling, fun MC Hammer/Will Smith stuff, etc.

AFTER MURDOCH:

MTV & VH1 - UnReality shows! VH1 may occasionally do something music-related but it's now Reality Shows!

Discovery & History - More Reality shows! Redneck/Hick Reality shows! Ancient Astronauts! Doomsday stuff! Nostradamus! Blair Witch-style faux-documentaries that the producers promote in a way that makes sure folks think it's real (the "Mermaid" show, for example). Very little normal science & history.

TLC - Reality Shows!

BET - Booty shaker/oogah boogah/bling bling/bitches & hoes/"lookit how stupid, shallow, primitive, violent & goofy we niggas is! *unh uhn uhn*". MLK Jr. spins in his grave!

I confess, I don't mind stuff like paranormal/ghost hunting shows (I love Ghost Adventures) and some reality shows such as Pawn Stars & that one with the guys going cross-country finding neat old collectables & artifacts from junk collectors & yard sales. I don't mind the ones that are basically talent shows like Idol, ...Has Talent, Dancing With The Stars (though the later three are on regular networks). However, the content of a show should match the premise of the cable station.

Reality Shows should have a Reality Show Channel.

Paranormal/Ghosts/Aliens/Prophecy stuff should be on a Paranormal Channel.

What's the point of having all these different specialized TV stations if they're all going to become homogenized, anyway? It's stupid!

If the TV Big Wigs cared about Art & Vision as much as they cared about Money & Ratings, this wouldn't be happening!

Either this is happening because:
A.) Most folks are turning to cyberspace for their music, music videos, TV, Movies, etc. so the desperate TV folks are trying to stay relevant by showing garbage.

B.) TV Executives are from Planet Zork and out of touch with society.

C.) TV Executives are doing it on purpose to dumb-down society in general.

I think it's a combo of the three.

The problem with TV, Movie & Music executives is that they don't understand the importance of VARIETY!

Intelligent shows have a place as do idiotic shows!

Both intelligent, well-crafted music & poppy teenybopper cheese have a place!

Action flicks, super-heroes, chick flicks, remakes & crappy Zucker-wannabee comedies have a place as well crafted, high quality, intelligent, original & cutting edge movies.

All forms of Rap music have a place, not just "Booty Bling" stupidity.

When you glut something, folks get sick of it! That's all.

Folks enjoy both "Junk Food" & "Gourmet Dinner" but at this point, the media's intent on being McDonald's.
