Ah yes, playing the old “fun with absolute numbers statistics game”, aren’t we? Don’t care for the rest of this drivel, but this is such a common point of discussion, it needs to be adressed.
1. Where does the statistic come from? Is it crimes that have been followed up on by the police? Does it include only crimes for which someone was judged guilty? If so, it doesn’t take into account the serious systemic prejudice inherent in the american justice system against nonwhite and especially black people (black people found guilty for murder are the group most commonly later found not guilty because of DNA evidence for example, wonder why that is). If not, then what are the criteria of this statistic?
2. According to the census bureau of the US, in 2020 (that was the best data I could find and close enough to 2018 to still count I think), the US had 331,449,281 people in it. Of those, black people make up 12.1% of the population, hispanics and latinos 18.7% and white “only” people 57.8% (nevermind my intense dislike of these categories). Now, if we take the relative values instead of the absolute ones (i.e. compare the number of crimes to the number of the potential victims) we should get a very rough, but way more precise overview of how often a white person is victimized by a black person etc (putting aside my huge doubts about the data in the first place). This of course will be especially rough because in most states, white people make up more than 70 and even up to 90 percent of the population, but sure, let’s take the national average for now. That’s about 38,773,913 black people, 61,981,015 latino or hispanics and 191,577,684 white people. That means that 0.154% of black people have been violently attacked by white people (ignoring multiples of course), 0.286% of white people by black people and 0.334% of hispanics and latinos by white people. Conversely, 0.191% of white people where attacked by hispanic or latino people, 0.181 percent of hispanic or latino people by black people and 0.115% of black people by hispanic people. Notice how small the differences become even if we just put these numbers in a rough context (and also note that white people would not fair well with this calculation anyway, since in relative terms violent crimes by them against latinos and hispanics are the most common compared to their proportion of the population). That’s why people like you love to use absolute numbers, they can be misinterpreted easily by ignoring the context. Ultimately, the statistic basically only says that white people are more numerous than others. I bet there is no significant difference found here.
3. The statistic also ignores very drastically differing socio-economic backgrounds. This is especially the case in a state where segregation was a thing not even a full two generations ago and where systemic racism is still very much a thing.
Elon Musk is a fucking right-wing simp now simply because these are the people that will still praise him for posting embarassingly misinterpreted and misleading data (even considering that he isn’t nearly as smart as some people think he is, this is something a moderately intelligent person would immediately see through).
And you are a racist white (european?) supremacist, which is even more despicable. Good for Poland and Switzerland to not let you into their countries. And I hope you don’t get the chance to spew your hateful ideals here in Europe ever again! YOU are the sickness, not the people you rail against.
