U.S. Sen. Mike Braun (R-Ind.) said the U.S. Supreme Court was wrong to legalize interracial marriage nationwide and should have left it to individual states.

Braun’s comments Tuesday came as he discussed what he’s looking for as he evaluates Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson.

As the Senate Judiciary Committee holds confirmation hearings for Jackson, Braun said she seems well qualified. And the GOP lawmaker said as he evaluates her record, he wants a justice who won’t be an “activist.”

The only thing surprising here is that they moved on to inter-racial marriage before same-sex marriage.

So, Braun did then walk back what he said, claiming that he had no idea what he was talking about:

In a statement to The Washington Post after the conference call, Braun said he “misunderstood” the reporter’s questions on Loving and stressed that he opposes racism.
“I misunderstood a line of questioning that ended up being about interracial marriage,” Braun said. “Let me be clear on that issue — there is no question the Constitution prohibits discrimination of any kind based on race, that is not something that is even up for debate, and I condemn racism in any form, at all levels and by any states, entities, or individuals.”

Judge for yourself if you believe him.

If there were any more doubts about the true nature of the GOP, it looks like this victory is causing their “mask of humanity” to fall. Their true, incomprehensibly inhuman & evil selves are showing more and more.

Well seeing that activist judges just overturned roe V Wade yes they ARE a problem.

Hands off my marriage, you piece of shit. I’m fortunate to live in a state where it’s unlikely to be overturned, but just the thought of it pisses me off.

If our friend have no ability to show understanding about basic constitutional questions then he has no qualification for being an elected official.

In case you didn’t notice, this quote precedes the current decision, and goes back to the time of the confirmation hearing for Jackson … as stated within. This is what Braun was saying before the current court proved what they would do.

Say to Judge John E. Jones III's face that he's an 'activist'. He understood the evidence submitted to the court in Kitzmiller vs. Dover: certainly that via the defence. Only too well for their own good. Oh, and he was appointed to the Federal bench by a previous US president - voted in twice - who is a Republican.

I'm reminded of my local MP Karl Turner (Labour, Hull East): before he was selected by - ultimately voted in as an MP for - the Labour Party, he was a barrister at Yorkshire's top law firm Max Gold Partnership. His legal experience has clearly served him well, as proved by his being returned to Parliament by we voters (including yours truly) who can see that it ensures he knows what he's doing. Question:
