And I have a problem with all the deaths connected to evolution.

1) Hitler used it to kill over 6 million people of one race.
2) Abortionist used Haeckel's faked drawing to get laws past to abort babies in the last trimester.

So evolution even has the blood of aborted babies on it's hands, as well as God's chosen people. So don't act as if evolution has never hurts anyone. And I have only touched the surface of those who have been killed in it's name.

Everyone dies whether or not one believes in creationism or accepts the ToE. "1) Hitler used it to kill over 6 million people of one race." No, the heinous acts of the nazis had nothing to do with the actual ToE. Using a twisted interpretation the ToE as an excuse to commit heinous acts, maybe, but not the actual ToE. I will continue to act as though evolution never hurt anyone until you show credible evidence to the contrary. Also, whether or not a scientific theory is comfortable to your sensibilities is irrelevant when considering whether or not it is true. Hitler claimed he was doing God's work, so even if he used a twisted idea of evolution as part of his justification for genocide, he was also using Christianity as justification. Other than the nazis, I can't think of any other time when evolution was named as a cause for murder. Religion on the other hand...

It's not that I don't like it (The bible). It is just that it is full of so much contradiction and blatantly stupid and bigoted ideas from over two thousand years ago. That's what makes it false.
It is an interesting history of a Bronze Age people but even then it lack historical back up in many places. I see religion as a mechanism of control and a way for the stupid and uneducated to explain away the mysteries of the universe by saying "It's all God's work". Rather than applying their brain to the situation and trying to figure out what is actually going on.

I was talking about the Theory of Evolution. The Bible really DOES incite violence :)

I'm sorry but estimates of 10 000-15 000 people dying in the Crusades is just stupid! They went on for over 150 years! It is estimated that around 9 million people died as a result of the crusades (and remember that this is at a time when the world population was significantly smaller than it has been in the last hundred years).
Latest estimates of Stalin’s activities in Russia put the total at worst at about 20 Million. But the murder of these people cannot be assigned directly to the fact he was an atheist just that he was a power mad loon. Where as the crusades were sanctioned by the Catholic Church! The deaths due to the various wars between the different denominations of Christians is way more than 5000. Let us say for example we take the English Civil War (which was essentially a war between puritans and other denominations) accounts for more than 5000 people. Estimates are put at around about 10% of the British population can be attributed to the war itself (Population being around 6 million at that point). And remember that is just the English Civil War, us the British and the rest of Europe spent a good thousand or so years kicking the crap out of each other because some people were Catholic and others were Protestant. And all that in the name of God. Can you name one war or event that can be directly attributed doing something in the name of Atheism? Us Atheists have a tendency to go to war not over what we believe but we tend to do it for economic or territorial reasons. A bit like the war in Iraq at the moment really being about oil. Oh hang on a second isn’t that a religious war cos God told George W Bush to invade Iraq. You’d have though God would have had the foresight to let him know that there weren’t any WMD there.

I also note that the link that you provided doesn’t actually have any figures saying how many people were estimated to have died. The article just contains the words you specified. Anyway, we could spend hours trading facts and figures which essentially is pointless because neither of us were there thus we can never really know exactly how many people died in either the Crusades or under Stalin’s regime. The real focus of the discussion should be the simple fact that Christianity pertains to be a peaceful religion and has been used on many occasions throughout history as an excuse for war! Surely this is a complete contradiction and surely your all powerful God should have acted to punish those that took his name in vain? As I mentioned in my earlier post hasn’t the President of the USA stated publicly that he went to war in Iraq because God told him to. Surely the God of the New Testament would never want this to happen what with him being a peace loving deity? Us Atheists are generally educated enough to be against war but when we do go to war we tend to do it for logical’ reasons rather than just believing that God told us to.

1) i'm sorry but Hitler (chancelor Adolf Hitler) did not use evolution to do anything, He opposed the teaching of evolutionary biology. He endorsed a rather creationist view of how life works. the rest is just jibberish, 2)Wrong, abortion in the last trimester is illegal , because its dangerous, and gynocologists (your abortionists) led the way in passing that law to prevent unnessessary high risk abortions, evolution is a process, it has no hands, there is no such thing as "god's chosen people" and evolution has never hurt anyone in all the billions of years it has been taking place Nobody has ever been killed in the name of evolution

BTW, since Adolph's name has come up in this discussion, historians are pretty sure that Adolph Hitler was a homosexual. He certainly had hand-picked quite a few homosexuals to be
his top staffers. What historians say this? Hitler condemned homosexuals to death camps along with Jews and Gypsies and communists and everyone else he didn't like. And what does that have to with connecting deaths to evolution? Stalin didn't kill people in the name of atheism. He killed people who didn't agree with him or were a threat or got in his way, but he didn't claim it was in the name of atheism. The Crusaders did kill people in the name of their god, so we can lay the blame for those deaths on Christianity fair and square.

Can I just drop a little nugget of info on a certain person here?
Joseph Stalin was, to all intents and purposes, Catholic. He was brought up a Catholic, he was being given the Preistly education, he followed the whole "might makes right" and "the guy at the top decides what's wrong or right, argue with it and you deserve death/torture" belief, he used any and all means to "spread the word" and he blamed all ills on those who didn't see things his way. Now... you could argue that he went against his upbringing, which is bollocks since he was doing EXACTLY what his upbringing taught him was right... or, you could argue that having a lack of belief in any Gods means you act just like a Christian. Either way, you're arguing that Christians are no better than Stalin. Of course, you could try arguing that it's having a belief in something intangible that's the problem... but then Atheists get the best of that since they just LACK belief in anything intangible like that. At which point, you begin to realise that using that kind of argument is just shooting yourself in the foot.
