Some people, however, who claim the name of Jesus Christ, think that God permits divorce in the case of abuse, abandonment or even neglect. While, of course, God hates all wickedness, including abuse and the failure to love one's spouse and children, and He will surely punish such sins, this does not justify divorce and remarriage in God's sight.
