The Kentucky Baptist Convention is calling for change at a ministry for abused children to make sure it's in line with scripture. The change is directed at the head of Sunrise Children's Services, an agency affiliated with the KBC.
The Convention last week issued a vote of "no confidence" in Sunrise CEO Bill Smithwick after he proposed hiring homosexual at the children's ministry – reportedly in hopes of preserving millions of dollars in state and federal funding. Although the Sunrise Board subsequently voted to keep its ban on the hiring of homosexuals, the KBC voted to replace all members of the board.

You guys have it wrong. It's a ministry for abusing children because it is in line with scripture.
Read the bible, you silly atheists.
"reportedly in hopes of preserving millions of dollars in state and federal funding."
Good. Taxpayers money should not be going to religious organisations anyway. Just for a change maybe they should try paying taxes instead of just taking them all the time.
The last line is the clincher. The CEO merely proposes hiring a homosexual, the board votes him down, and so the good church folk go nuclear and fire the entire board. Talk about bringing a tank to a knife fight.
You know, after all I've been dealt from the hands of your ilk's backwards homophobic nonsense, I honestly wonder if those abused children would be better off without your "help."
And I hate that I wonder thatit's the whole "he who fights monsters" and what-have-you setting in. Still doesn't change the fact that I'd sooner live cold and hungry on the streets than hate myself again for a roof over my head and a shot at a decent meal.
Then again, I really don't have to wonder, do I? After all, the fundieness in this post is already that you'd bicker amongst yourselves, cut your noses off to spite your faces, and let abused children continue suffering in broken homes before allowing anyone who might be queer to help them.
So, it looks like children actually aren't any better off without your "help." But they aren't worse off, either. They're still in the same position they would be without your existence, because you can't be bothered to stop knuckle-dragging long enough to seek perspective past your tightly clenched, dirt-stained fists.
I'd say, gays for taking care of little girls, & lesbians for little boys. No more child abuse!!!(half joke)
After all, that's one of the reasons for most people working in haute couture are either women or gays. They literaly spend half of their working life putting their hands on handsome cuties...
The very concept of ANY church counseling abused children sends shudders up my spine and awaiting the next large scale child abuse scandal to break the news.
Forget the goverment money without huge goverment oversight of such projects, in the South it better be Federally policed as we know the far-right church enablers they vote in down there.

...the Convention voted, at their last meeting. I'm sure if you pray hard enough, your precious Invisible Sky Fairy will just 'poof' said money out of thin air, and not from other peoples ' donations/'tithes' etc. [/hyper-sarcasm]
PROTIP: 'Faith' schools here in the UK - if they're to continue to receive state funding - must teach the Big Bang & Evolution as fact , as per the National Curriculum, as it's the law . No bullshit allowed.
Even though I'm gay, I don't have a real problem with this as long as they're consistent, and follow all their religious dictates. That means, of course, they should also replace a board that would include anyone who covets anything, or a gossip, or someone who shaves, or who wears clothes of mixed fibres.
But if they're just selecting from their scriptures to justify bigotry, then they're ignoring their religions clear guideline on who can cast stones.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
