Ironically enough, my Ukrainian friends oppose Navalny for his racism and xenophobia. I do think he was a very brave man, but there is a fine line between bravery and suicidal behaviour, and why give money to him when there is a much more obviously effective way to help the russians achieve democracy – donate to the Ukrainian Armed Forces! There is also the fact that he called Caucasians (by Caucasians, I am talking of the people of Georgia and the Caucasus Mountains, not how it is used in U.S. usage to mean anyone with pale skin) “cockroaches”, is a vocal islamophobe, and thinks Crimea is part of russia. Navalny would not have been too much better than Putin, he is still an imperialist who lies to get Western support.
Honestly I do think killing Navalny was a terrible strategic move for Putin. Killing Navalny increased sanctions and made even his useful idiots turn against him. But when my enemy makes a mistake, I do not correct him. Glory to Ukraine!
