“I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once. Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I’m with the blacks, because we’re white trash. We’re going across the field.... They’re singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, ‘I tell you what: These doggone white people’—not a word!... Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.”

Sure you didn't Phil. And so long as you can define what mistreatment means, you never will. And that Supreme Court, what a bunch of cry babies, right Phil?
Yeah, and I saw a hiring manager at a past job of mine throw the application of a perfectly qualified black person in the trash. I saw another black co-worker get her every moved picked on, while the rest of us got away with all kinds of stuff, even though she was doing just as good a job as any of us. Just because you don't see it in your work place doesn't mean it doesn't happen in other places.
Only Phil knows What Life was Really Like for blacks everywhere before those evil lazy-making things like Civil Rights and Welfare and Affirmative Action caught on. How amazing that the old newspaper stories and biographies and historical findings are just hogwash that overshadowed those grand ol' days of all blacks being happy hired farmers' help. Yeah, life was so much better for them back then, what a shame that anybody tried to give them the chance to be anything else.
Maybe because you were being equally mistreated so they didn't feel the need to treat you different as a white share cropper or tenant farmer if you didn't give 'em shit.
Also being afraid of backlash for sassing was a thing too.
He's either a little confused, has onset dementia, or is a complete idiot.
Maybe all three?
And most of my family are fox watching conservatives and during christmas dinner I had to listen to how the librull media took his comments "out of context".
Really? Even if that were true, he was stating biblically held views on homosexuals, what other context is there? Absolute horseshit. They were also talking about how many people signed petitions and whatever to show their support. They've never heard of that logical phallacy before. Even if a million fucking people agree with that asshat, it in no way makes him or his "arguments" right.
Also, I had to hear, "he was only stating what was in the bible!" As if that excuses him. Yeah, and the bible is nothing but a bunch of evil, hateful bullshit. Oh, free speech is under attack! They completely fail to see that free speech is a two way street. People have just as much right to express their anger at his statements as he does making them.

Out of curiosity, whose comments?
Phil, you never toiled in the cotton fields in the Pre-Civil Rights era! You're a pretty, youngish yuppie boy disguised as an ugly, wizened old hillbilly & you were likely not born yet! You're a bigger quack than those duck calls....if you even make them!
"I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment..."
And how else were you going to see it, with your nose?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
