Quote# 88136

Protection from Extreme Environmentalists – We strongly oppose all efforts of the extreme environmental groups that stymie legitimate business interests. We strongly oppose those efforts that attempt to use the environmental causes to purposefully disrupt and stop those interests within the oil and gas industry. We strongly support the immediate repeal of the Endangered Species Act. We strongly oppose the listing of the dune sage brush lizard either as a threatened or an endangered species. We believe the Environmental Protection Agency should be abolished.

Free Speech for the Clergy – We urge amendment of the Internal Revenue Code to allow a religious organization to address issues without fear of losing its tax-exempt status. We call for repeal of requirements that religious organizations send the government any personal information about their contributors.

Homosexuality ? We affirm that the practice of homosexuality tears at the fabric of society and contributes to the breakdown of the family unit. Homosexual behavior is contrary to the fundamental, unchanging truths that have been ordained by God, recognized by our country’s founders, and shared by the majority of Texans. Homosexuality must not be presented as an acceptable “alternative” lifestyle, in public policy, nor should “family” be redefined to include homosexual “couples.” We believe there should be no granting of special legal entitlements or creation of special status for homosexual behavior, regardless of state of origin. Additionally, we oppose any criminal or civil penalties against those who oppose homosexuality out of faith, conviction or belief in traditional values.

Controversial Theories – We support objective teaching and equal treatment of all sides of scientific theories. We believe theories such as life origins and environmental change should be taught as challengeable scientific theories subject to change as new data is produced. Teachers and students should be able to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of these theories openly and without fear of retribution or discrimination of any kind.

Knowledge-Based Education – We oppose the teaching of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) (values clarification), critical thinking skills and similar programs that are simply a relabeling of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) (mastery learning).

Sex Education – We recognize parental responsibility and authority regarding sex education. We believe that parents must be given an opportunity to review the material prior to giving their consent. We oppose any sex education other than abstinence until marriage.

U.S. Department of Education – Since education is not an enumerated power of the federal government, we believe the Department of Education (DOE) should be abolished.

Judeo-Christian Nation – As America is a nation under God founded on Judeo-Christian principles, we affirm the constitutional right of all individuals to worship in the religion of their choice.

Voter Rights Act – We urge that the Voter Rights Act of 1965 codified and updated in 1973 be repealed and not reauthorized.

@Ignorant4Life (I love coming up with these names), you're just bringing up all of the basic homophobe ideas which us people here have already debunked a thousand times. Either bring up something new, keep your bigotry elsewhere, or finally realize that your hatred is very misplaced. Trust me, if I do marry another male (I'm bisexual), I don't want anything to do with your religious marriage. I want financial and mental stability with the person I love. How can you be against that?

Jordab, you're free to live with your boyfriend any time you want. That's your business. But, don't ask the rest of us to call it a "marriage." Just because you want to stick your junk into another man's behind doesn't mean that the rest of us have to play dumb and claim we don't know what the definition of a real marraige is.

@Dumbass4Life, maybe you didn't hear me say "bring up something new." In fact, I don't think you payed any attention to what I typed. "I want financial and mental stability," "bring up something new," the whole lot. You didn't even answer my question. Instead of repeating your same, hateful, "love is only sex" shit by ignoring me, try actually defending your position. It makes you seem a lot less immature and desperate, at the least.
EDIT: Wait, do you even know what a marriage is? It's certainly not just living with someone, you get hundreds of rights and privileges. Not exactly equal that the homosexuals don't get those, is it?

@His4Life

Excuse me, this is a secular democracy. We have freedom of religion here. You or your religion have absolutely no say over what marriage is.

If a Methodist church married gay people, who are you to say that that's not a marriage? It is to the Methodists. It should be to the state.

People confuse this all the time. This is a religious freedom and personal liberty issue. You have no right to dictate your religious views to anyone else.

@Jordab

That's pretty standard behaviour for Troll4Life. After you argue reasonably with her, and destroy the same flawed, over-used arguments for her archaic beliefs, she'll revert to ignoring any further arguments and respond with "nuh-uh" and continue to cling to her positions, despite being unable to provide any further justifications for them.

The purpose of a marriage is to have children. This is why the state blesses marriage; because it produces future generations of citizens. Jamming your junk up someone else's butt does not lead to procreation so it's not a marriage.

But hey, here's an idea, ok? What if we just abolished the institution of marriage completely and let people just do whatever the hell they want, like a bunch of apes in the jungle? You can marry your boyfriend, I can have three husbands, my neighbor can fuck his toaster. I mean, it's all relative, right?

Ok, moving away from the sarcasm and being serious for a minute, what is the advantage of gay marriage to soceity? How does society as a whole benefit from giving recognition to gay couples? I've already explained what the benefit from traditional marriages is - raising children to replish the population - what about gay couples?

Filin, I believe that couples that choose not to have children shouldn't get the same tax benefits as couples that do. I've had three children, plus two stepchildren I raised from my husband's first marriage. Obviously every woman reaches a point at which she can't have children anymore. Of course I don't advocate forced divorce, provided the couple already gave children to society.

There's no arguing with Troll4Life; she flat out ignores any logical arguments that disagree with her. Look, dumbass, I'll repeat myself. Marriage is about more than just reproducing since marriage isn't a pre-requisite for having children and since some couples either don't want to have children, or are incapable of producing children on their own. Why is this so hard to understand. Also, raising children isn't the only way to replenish a state's population; you're entirely ignoring immigration, so that argument is invalid.

"I believe that couples that choose not to have children shouldn't get the same tax benefits as couples that do."

Do you have any justification for this monstrous belief? Do you believe that people's only value is in reproduction? What about infertile people? Should they never be granted the same benefits as fertile couples based solely on an aspect of their biology that is entirely outside of their control? Wouldn't that be unconstitutional?

"Filin, I'm not obsessed with anal. I think it's disgusting. I don't even advocate it for heterosexual couples."

So basically, you're against homosexual marriage because you think gay sex is icky (which is apparently all you think about when homosexual relationships are discussed) and now you're just grasping at straws to justify your beliefs.

It's a two-way street. What do homosexuals couples offer to society that we should give them a tax benefit for?

Seriously? No religious official has any right to bitch about other people getting undeserved tax benefits, considering, y'know, the fact that churches in the US don't have to pay taxes for some unfathomable reason.

Seperation of church and state prohibits taxing churches. This is in the Constitution.

And yet churches continually meddle in the political process, violating their end of separation of church and state and are never taxed for it.
