Stay away from the medications that the doctors are giving out like candy. There are too many natural herbs and techniques to use today . Everyone is bipolar. That's right everyone is...Only way to get right in your head is through the biblical principal of taking every thought captive that is not of Faith, that means all of your hurts, doubts, anger, fears, did you know that they are not of Faith? and all those emotions that take you captive through out your day which begin in your thought life before they become strongholds and cause you to become bipolar.

Conventional psychology not working for you? All those meds giving you hallucinations? Troublesome Body Thetans? Bank account too full?

'What's true, is true for you '
Azathoth, something similar happened to a friend of mine. He had schizophrenia, but was convinced by a church to stop taking his medication. He believed he was healed at first, but later went into a long psychotic period that his church friends never tried to help him with. He ended up committing suicide by jumping in front of a car.
I've said this before, but the kooky cult I was in preached that the ability to discover medication was a gift from God. You suck, Rapture Ready and I'd hope you're all sterile, but fundies breed like rabbits.
It is true that they push too many medicines on us these days. Watching TV all day will lead you to believe that you need a medication for every body system that you have. I am a bit of a hypochondriac and the drug commercials really get to me. A lot of the "need" for medication could be eliminated if we would eat better, get up off our asses and do something, stop smoking, etc.
HOWEVER.
This does not apply to mental illness. Untreated mental illness is devastating to the person suffering and their loved ones. People with mental disorders need to seek help and take medication if it is prescribed. You can't put your little faith band-aid on bipolar disorder or schizophrenia or whatever. You're a fool if you think you can, and spreading your nonsense is bordering on criminal AND breaking one of your own board rules.

Hm,
if I remember correctly fear is definitely something of faith, as you can find numerous passages in the bible that go like this:
@Deuteronomy 4:10
That they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children
@Deuteronomy 6:13, 10:20
Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God.
@1 Chronicles 16:25
The Lord ... is to be feared above all gods.
Natural herbs and techniques don't do shit. People think they do because of spontaneous remission and the placebo effect, and because 90% of people can't grasp the "correlation does not equal causation" principle.
That's not to say that all medications are effective, either. We could stand to do an overhaul of our drug system. But medications are vastly more effective than whatever shit you're touting.
as someone with a virtual alphabet soup of disorders, I will first say that I would rather deal with my 'demons' of mental illness than with your Gawd. and secondly, I offer a hearty and deeply felt FUCK YOU.
I am bipolar. I grew up in a family that thought that mental illness was of Satan. That was also the time of my life where I started becoming reckless, cutting, that whole suicide attempt...
And then there is my mom. Doesn't take meds because they aren't "of God". She's OD'd several times in her life, is abusing drugs, and left us over and over again.
But you'd probably just say we were/are of little faith.
I am not bipolar, and you don't have a fucking clue what you are talking about.
@ Table Rock: I thought Iruntherace4Him might benefit from an opinion from both sides of the spectrum. :)
Stay away from the medications that the doctors are giving out like candy.
I'll agree with this. Antibiotics are over abused by the general public who are enabled by their doctors and pharmacists.
There are too many natural herbs and techniques to use today.
Depends what kind of medical results one is hoping to achieve. Weight loss? Yeah, sure. Errections? Why not. Curing bipolar disease? Hardly. Not even close.
Everyone is bipolar.
Sure, we all have ups and downs but speak for yourself when it comes to the medical definition of bipolar.
I won't even comment on the further bullshit...
"Stay away from the medications that the doctors are giving out like candy."
And why the fuck should anyone listen to you?
"Everyone is bipolar."
Proof? Didn't think so.
"Only way to get right in your head is through the biblical principal of taking every thought captive that is not of Faith, that means all of your hurts, doubts, anger, fears, did you know that they are not of Faith?"
So, "God-fearing" is not part of the dogma that your cult cherry-picks out of the Bible? Ever hear of self-flagellation and other guilt-ridden behaviors promoted by the Christian church? I'm pretty sure guilt is an emotion.
I think you're confusing Christianity with the planet Vulcan from Star Trek. Easy mistake to make.
Ignorant, lying moron. You jesus freaks have been spewing the same nonsensical bullshit for 2000 years with the same effect - absolutely nothing. Human life expectancy only rose when people at last rejected the intellectual paralysis of religion, threw out the doctrine of ignorance and fear and realised that people like you are the real cause of so much suffering on this planet. No one anywhere has *ever* been healed by faith. No one. Ever. Yet you continue to disseminate lies, use your faith as a shield to hide your hatred and bigotry behind and expect to be respected for it. I've got news for you, pal, I don't respect unreasoning faith, I don't respect your or anyone else's religion. I see you for what you are: a dangerous and deluded death-cultist who, if they had their way, would impose a fascist theocracy on the rest of us.
Take your lies and ignorance and leave the rest of us sane people the fuck alone.
Sounds like someone is in an untreated manic phase and is getting paranoid.
Medications are chemicals that affect the body's chemistry in some way, and they're not all that predictable. They can have one beneficial effect along with several non-beneficial effects.
Herbs contain chemicals that affect the body's chemistry in some way, and they're not all that predictable. They can have one beneficial effect along with several non-beneficial effects.
The main difference is medications have been researched, it is known what chemicals they contain, and their reactions are somewhat more predictable than those of herbs. But essentially, they're the same fucking thing.
Cults don't want their members on medications. Crazy people are easier to control. And yeah, if they off themselves, well it's sad, but obviously they didn't have enough faith. They're like Pilate washing his hands in front of the crowd.
People who talk others into not taking their medication should be charged with practising medicine without a license.
Charles Manson? Is that you?
Oh, wait, its just some brainwashed cretin who thinks religion can cure everything no drug can, even schizophrenia, addiction, cancer, AIDS, genetic mutations, and the bubonic plague.
Question? The Black Death, that roamed through Europe and killed nearly a half of it's population. No one was able to cure it or even figure out what it was back then and they were good God fearing Bible thumping Christians.
But ever since modern science discovered germ theory and antibiotics, diseases like that are almost extinct.
Ugh, running should leave one with endorphines and a clear mind, not an idiot like this.
Also @ #1024355: I'm really sorry for your loss.
I agree that doctors push way to many pills on the average person, but IRTR4H should at least consider the possibility that he/she could use some form of treatment before he/she is condemned to the Padded Room, where there will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth.
This reminds me of this preacher woman I saw telling everyone medicine was of the debil.
She said that it was OK that this 2 year old child died because his parents decided not to give him medicine but instead just pray because "he got a one-way ticket into heaven".
And yet they're against abortion which based on her logic is the kindest thing to do to a fetus because you're making sure it gets to heaven.
@ Bob's Old Socks
Well spoken, sir.
"Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you very much..."
Lily Allen makes more sense than you. And she's hotter.
Well I've used religious practice for years to successfully deal with mental health issues. The practice in question being pagan shamanism (the original stuff not the modern feel-good new age version) because it provides a good practical model for being a productive member of your community while also being not entirely normal. But I absolutely would not recommend it for everyone.
Oh, and being a fundie christian nearly drove me to kill myself because of that whole 'if you don't get better then you just don't have enough faith' thing.
Huh? Did anyone understand that? All I got was stay way from medicine... Blarg blurble, blaggle, clorp, mumble...
Where in the hell is that "Whargarble" pic with the dog when you need it?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
