I have it on very good authority that the High Artichoke is the one true Vegetable. Keep on as you are, and you'll end up on the compost heap at the bottom of the garden. While we Vegetarians will mock you from our well-tended furrows. Know you that the one true Vegetable and His herbaceous word is plainly laid out in the Holy Gardening Book and may not be gainsaid.
Let me quote from the Holy Gardening Book, the Kevin Jones Version (KJV) and you shall flourish greatly where you root in your drill and neither will your blossoms ever drop nor your leaves ever again shall wilt.
Radish 1:7-11
7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a pip at her.
8 And again he drooped down, and rooted on the ground.
9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Carrot Top was left alone, and the parsnip standing in the furrow.
10 When Carrot Top had lifted up himself, and saw none but the parsnip, he said unto her, Parsnip, where are those thine pruners? hath no caterpillar condemned thee?
11 She said, No caterpillar, Lord. And Carrot Top said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and rot no more.
