Right now, there are people in the US government who would like nothing better than to discriminate against a group of US citizens who have done absolutely nothing wrong. It's none of their business who someone wants to marry, everyone ought to have equal rights in that respect. Since supposedly only about 10% of the population is homosexual, I don't think that having all of those people marry will cause a huge sudden decline in population or military recruitment.
