[Why do so many Christians interpret the bible literally?]
Well..there are some things that i believe aren't meant to be taken literally..others i do. Most stories is the OT i take literally. Including the flood, adam and eve, etc. Why do i take it literally? Hmm...that's kind of like asking me why i think blue is better then purple. (ehh..i was gonna say something else but it slipped my mind..). It's just a belief i've come to hold. I mean it doesnt tell me anywhere that its not literal. And I dont see why it shouldnt be taken literally. (i dont want to go into a debate on the flood over science)

At least this person's consistant throughout his/her post. S/he can't defend his/her position, but at least s/he admits that.

Hey, HopeforaBJ, you base your beliefs on what you find aesthetically pleasing? Then you lose your train of thought in one sentence. Then your reason for believing the bible is because the bible DOESN'T say other wise? Fucking hell.image
Classic Fundy Literal:
* Have faith in Jesus and be immune all poisons.
* Angels generate winds from the four corners of the Earth.
* God made the entire universe in 6 days including 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of it in one evening as an after thought.
* Jesus is going to come back with the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse and kick the ass of everyone they hate.
* Homosexuality is an abomination.
* Suffer not a woman to preach.
Not Literal.
* Treat others as you would like to be treated.
* It's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
* Share your all your possessions with your brothers in Christ.
* If the courts judge you owe a man your robe, give him your coat as well.
Not even going to start on the stuff they claim is in the bible but isn't.
So, does he ever see what he doesn't take literally? Jesus' statement, "do unto others as you would wish them to do unto you", perhaps?
