You think atheists are more rational?

I think atheists are making irrational choices:

Atheists choose to believe life sprung out of nothing. We can’t even create life in science lab from nothing.

Atheists choose to believe the perfect temperature, the balance of seasons, and the gravitational pull of this earth are all coincidence.

When hearing of people telling of meeting others in heaven briefly in a near-death experience, atheists choose to believe all those people are lying… in a similar manner… even children.

Atheists have heard Christians say “we are all sinners who need a Savior from our sins.” Then when they see a Christian fall and sin, they say “I will not become a hypocrite like those Christians who sin.” Your question says atheists are rational, but here, they forget the definition of all. We are all sinners.

I find it irrational that atheists can believe history while reading a history book (granted, they likely have an open mind while reading this), yet, they don’t spend time reading the Gospel (and would likely approach them with a closed mind). Shouldn’t a rational person accept accounts of Genghis Khan and Jesus with similar respect for historical records?

Reagan Rayford (scornful tone): "When I use the word 'rational', it means just what I choose it to mean! Neither more nor less!"

perfect temperature and gravity

Temperatures vary based on location, local climate and time of the year. Growing seasons are only a few months outside of a few places and that's not getting into things like soil nutrients. Gravity is a property of matter.

NDEs

I never had a NDE so I can't confirm if they actually occur or not. It could just be like dreams. I don't think people who say they had them are lying but rather mistaken.

Christian hypocrisy

The problem is that Christians don't acknowledge their shortcomings and actually try to overcome them. Then there are some who think being saved gives them moral authority to lecture others.

I have no problem saying Jesus in the Bible was most likely based on a real person. Back when I was a theist, I was apart of r/bad history and they had a lot of material about it. However I do not and will not believe that I am a sinner. I have flaws, yes, but I do not need some guy to be born and die over a weekend to overcome them.

The reason a lot of atheists would have a "closed mind" when reading the Bible is because they've already read it, and it's what made them atheists!

"Atheists choose to believe life sprung out of nothing."

That's not exactly what I believe. So, if you're trying to say you've got the more rational take on things, you're hamstringing your own argument. This bit where you 'make shit up' and say I believe it? I suppose that's convincing to people who already agree with you, but from my point of view, you just look stupid.

I mean, imagine if I said, 'all christains are hypocrites about abortion.' YOU would say you're not hypocritical, whatever your view is, and dismiss that as biased hate.

I do. There are multiple historical records about Genghis Khan and his life. All the historical records for Jesus are in one book, and it disagrees with itself (for instance, how many people went to Jesus' tomb on Easter morning and who were they?).

No, Christians choose to believe that life sprung out of nothing, just the supposed words of a deity with no evidence of his existence.

Atheists just think that there is no evidence for any gods. Atheism has nothing to do with life and where it come from.
Most people (i.e. non-cretinists) adhere to reality, both atheists and religious people. We choose to believe the idea of abiogenesis (though still a hypothesis), that non-life changed into life.

That life has evolved to fit the environments on Earth is definitely NOT a coincidence.

Those NDE people are probably dreaming, or it's a result of their brains shutting down, and being deprived of oxygen.

This atheist say "sin is an arbitrary concept, only focused on not offending an imaginary being". I'm more focused on not harming other human beings.

History is not just ONE history book, dearie, it's thousands upon thousands of books, most of which more or less corroborate each other. The Gospel is only one book, that has little or no corroboration in any other source. A rational person accepts accounts of Genghis Khan and Mohammed with similar respect for historical records, and she doesn’t accept accounts of Jesus or Gandalf, with similar lack of historical records.

You think atheists are more rational?

As opposed to, say... the infinitely more rational Christians? For example, the basis of modern Protestantism & the source of the KJV so many who claim to be even more... 'rational' use, the Church of England:

Enjoy your paradox.

You lost me at "choose to believe". Once I understood (even just a little bit) about the science involved I was convinced. There is no way I could think otherwise. I could no more return to religion than you could flap your arms and fly. All that season variability, etc, is just physics and chemistry doing its thing, with no magic needed. C'mon, THINK, man! If the earth had been unsuitable for life, then life wouldn't have occurred here in the first place.

I've been an atheist for the last sixty-plus years. I've never seen anything in all that time to make me change my mind.

"Atheists choose to believe life sprung out of nothing."

No that's christianists. Atheists know better.

"When hearing of people telling of meeting others in heaven briefly in a near-death experience, atheists choose to believe all those people are lying… in a similar manner… even children. "

Until you hear the NDEs of people from other cultures.

Once you can come up with as much evidence for Jesus as we have for Genghis, sure.
