If #RobertELee is to be erased from history, why not erase #ChristopherColumbus whose arrival ignited genocide of Native Americans?

A strange non -erased figure of American history.
But mayhaps underrated in such...?
Go stick your head in that River, J eraldo: it's full of dirt from it being stuck in the ground all these years.
Someone fell asleep during history classes. Now go back to bed, J erry.
They must never be erased from history, but live - in infamy. And yes, both of them. Indeed, pretty much all slaveholders should.
Going after the ringleaders of a renegade slavestate doesn't discredit America's existence as a nation like targeting Columbus* on the same level would. Given that Columbus was dragged out of the dustbin of history to pander to Italian-Americans, I might expect to see him replaced with a less contentious figure, but a blanket condemnation from the government (and the European settler foundation of America he represents) is a long way off. Though, given that many of the world's nations are partially or wholly comprised of conquered territory, this isn't a problem that just affects America of course.
*Or any other European settler who contributed to the destruction of the indigenous population, deliberately or otherwise.
Taking him off the pedestal that only the *worst* elements of the American South have put him on and placing his name back in historical context instead of him being seen in his bizarre mythical singularity isn't erasing him from history, it's forcing you to actually SEE the man's history.
A history very inconvenient to the self-deluded supremacists that constructed his pedestal out of omission and outright fabrications. A convenient hero to distract from the idiocy and failure of both the people and cause he felt obligated to serve.
Confused?
