Yeah, you're right, I'll just do steroids the natural way, injecting them into my butt!
Thanks for the message, Vegans!
Veganism might as well qualify as an eating disorder, and if it doesn't, it's certainly a mental disorder.
Nothing inside meat not found in alternatives? I dunno, how about good taste? Sure, you can make good vegetarian food, but not much can replace a good steak on the grill.
Meh'd.
This is technically not incorrect. As far as I know, you can have follow a vegan diet and still obtain all the nutrients you need. You just need to put a lot of thought and effort into planning your meals to do it.
There are absolutely examples of fundie vegans, this just isn't one of them.
Veganism is by far one of the most destructive diets in the world. On top of that it's not as nutritious as a diet of whole fruits and veggies and naturally raised meat. Those proteins from plants? They're not as 'bio available' to your body as meat, so most of them you poop right out without digesting them, or worse, they come packaged with naturally occurring inflammatory chemicals that do damage to the gut.
It's why the vast majority of vegans and vegetarians go back to eating meat. It's not a human diet.
The real science is coming out. A Vegan diet is a destructive one to the environment and body and it's been due to corporate greed and misguided moral confusion that we've been lied to about meat.
I thought what this person is trying to do is distance vegans from people with anorexia nervosa. Since it is common to use veganism or gluten allergies as a cover for an eating disorder.
But after a second and third rereading, I have no clue what's going on.
I have literally never heard of veganism being blamed for eating disorders. I have heard of veganism being used as a cover for eating disorders (e.g. as an excuse for why you are not eating the same meal as the rest of your family). That's about it. The argument seems to be attacking a strawman.
Also, am I the only one who notices the hypocrisy of totally dismissing one thing because it is "all in your head" and then creating a sense of legitimacy for other things by designating them "mental health disorders"? Just because something is "all in your head" it doesn't mean it doesn't affect you or that it isn't important or real. Meet psychology and psychiatry.
I think the fundy factor here, the reason this post is worthy of FSTDT, is that this person is tilting at a windmill (with a vague sense of persecution). Their argument isn't even internally consistent.

Asparagus with every meal
Makes your wee-wee smell surreal
I've never experienced any symptoms of blowing off via eating beef, pork, chicken, lamb, fish etc.
It must be in the mind then.
Confused?
