So why should we join your cult? What proof can you offer that your cult is right? Why is your cult better than or more right than all the other religions in the world? Can you give us objective, empirical proof that your cult is true? We'll be waiting.

"I am a born again, bible-believing Christian! That is not a cult!"
In the sense those qualifiers are usually used, yes it is.

I really wish they'd look in a dictionary once in awhile.
A cult is simply a group of like minded people come together for that commonality. I realize the media demonized the word (and a few others) but that doesn't change it's original meaning.

The only difference between a cult and a religion is the number of its adherents and the political power wielded by those adherents as a group.
So, I guess, by those standards, Christianity ceased being a cult somewhere around about 1600 or so years ago.
Doesn't make the message any less implausible just because more people buy into it. I lie doesn't suddenly become the truth because enough people believe it.

Look up what the word "cult" actually means instead of how it's usually used; you are in one.

Why would God make it so that it's too late to believe in him at the very moment we are given the proof of his existence we've been asking for? Is God some cheezy game-show presenter now?
"And here, Carol, is what you would have won if you'd chosen the door I told you to!"
Can fundies like Bobby not understand that if they make their God out to be a smarmy, vindictive douche, we will have all the less reason to follow him?
Personally, if I am wrong and do end up stood before God after I die, I'm going to point to Bobby, and all the people like him, and explain that it was these dickwads and their pathetic, venal visions of God that kept me from believing in him.

Lets check Bobbys statement for typical criteria of religious cults:
I am a born again, bible-believing Christian!
- So-called "Loaded Language". Re-Definition of words and usage of special vocabulary to instill the ideology directly into the thought processes. ("Born again")
To all of you, I can say on judgment day that I told you that GOD was real, but you just mocked me. You will see that GOD is real when you see HIM as your judge.
- Claims to possess the "absolute truth". Claims that "purity" and "salvation" is only and exclusively attainable by following the cult's doctrine.
It will be too late for you to accept HIM then, so I urge you to please accept HIM now!
- Exercising power by exploiting typical human psychological weaknesses: Guilt, confessions, and fear.
Yes, "Bobby", you are definitely the member of a cult, and you have internalized its doctrine perfectly. Congratulations, you became the perfect puppet.

Bobby is right. The difference between a cult and a religion is tax free status.
