[John Maynard Keynes] was a narcissist, he was a hedonist and he was a homosexual...his view of history is very shortsighted, short-circuited, he cared about himself and his generation exclusively; so homosexuality in the end is going to be responsible for the collapse of the Western economy.

Not just fabulous but Absolutely Fabulous. Fashionable, tasteful and moving. Not a dry eye in the house.
Arctic, is that like pure "white ice" you use?
"John Maynard Keynes' economic theories are unsustainable. John Maynard Keynes was a homosexual. Therefore: homosexuality is going to lead to the collapse of the economy."
Uhhhhhhh; do we still hand out that Insane Troll Logic Award?
Actually, if we allowed gay marriage across the country it would pour millions of dollars into the wedding industry and therefore pump up the economy.
But this ranks right up there with the "gay marriage will cause the collapse of Western civilization" comment we had a few days ago. It's so absurd that it's even unbelievable that any of them are trying to be serious while saying it.
Keynes' economic theories had nothing to do with his homosexuality. The real economic disaster can be traced to Reagan, with his political stunt dubbed "starve the beast" - the idea that Congress could be forced to reduce the size of government by giving massive, economically unnecessary but politically popular tax cuts. There were two things wrong with the idea: (1) no one - even conservatives - really wants less government; they just don't want to pay for it; and (2) it grossly underestimated the public's tolerance for debt. The result is almost 14 trillion of additional national debt since the Reagan tax cuts and nothing to show for it, except maybe the wider screen TV you bought with your tax cut.
Keynes' idea was simple: run deficits when the economy is down and pay them off by running surpluses when the economy is up. But nobody wants to do that (a) because nobody ever has enough money, and so never believes the economy is up; and (b) see (1) above.
A ham-fisted repetition of Niall Ferguson's views about Keynes. Ferguson later retracted parts of his statement saying:
Last week I said something stupid about John Maynard Keynes. Asked to comment on Keynes’ famous observation “In the long run we are all dead,” I suggested that Keynes was perhaps indifferent to the long run because he had no children, and that he had no children because he was gay. This was doubly stupid. First, it is obvious that people who do not have children also care about future generations. Second, I had forgotten that Keynes’ wife Lydia miscarried.
There aren't many gay scenes in The General Theory of Employment , A Treatise on Money or The Economic Consequences of the Peace , but things like retractions of stupid statements he likes or the actual contents of works on economics with real reasoned argument have never been known to bother Bryan Fischer.
As for the destruction of the Western economy, Keynes's views on how to deal with deflationary economic crisis and the economic aspects of World War II did much to preserve the West's economic capacity to win victory over Nazism.
We have a large town named after Keynes in the UK, Milton Keynes.
When it was built, the town planners really missed a trick by not making all the roads pink, and the buildings all sparkly, but that's because nobody here cares less about something as unimportant as a person's sexual preferences.
Yes, because the post-world war two economy, which was sidled with more than twice as much debt as we have now and beset by Keynesian progressive taxes, was characterized by debt-induced economic collapse.
Right.
Of course homosexuality is responsible for the collapse of Western economy, because no gays will go outside of their house to buy anything if people like you have their way.
No, hold on, that will be your fault, not theirs. Sorry, got mixed up there for a moment.
But seriously, fuck off with your homophobic bullshit that no-one wants to hear.
Ah, so you therefore agree with the one who was the diametric opposite...:

...amirite?!
C'mon Bryan, raise your right fist before him and join me in a rousing rendition of the Socialist anthem "The Internationale"! After all...:
image
Which itself has become a bestselling T-shirt & poster design. Oh, teh irony...!
...oh, and another irony, nay an uncomfortable truth for Bryan here: if - as he claims - Keynes was homosexual , and therefore teh ghey is contributing to the downfall of Western Capitalism, then Karl Marx was extremely heterosexual, was married, and had children. Ergo, Socialism is superior in every conceivable way to Capitalism, as Bryan has therefore admitted. One word: Norway .
And ever heard of Christian Socialism , Bryan...?! >:D
"[John Maynard Keynes] was a narcissist, he was a hedonist and he was a homosexual"
Which has nothing to do with his theories. And two of those things aren't considered bad anymore.
"his view of history is very shortsighted, short-circuited"
Actually Keynes also thought states should raise taxes and cut investments when the economy is booming. That politicians don't do that isn't Keynes' fault.
"he cared about himself and his generation exclusively"
Incoherence in the same sentence. That's gotta be a new record.
homosexuality in the end is going to be responsible for the collapse of the Western economy.
Homophobes keep saying this, but they never explain why .
There is NO connection, none, between a person's sexual preferences and his work in an academic discipline like economics. One would be a very bad economist if one didn't take into account the future and the fact that most people will have children. I'm sure one could find many, many examples of gay free marketeers.
Lastly, Keynesianism wasn't even responsible for the latest financial crisis. It went out of fashion 40 years ago. It was neo-liberalism that created this mess.
@Frostythesnowman: Milton Keynes isn't named after Keynes.
bad economist
is tautological
Keynian economics saved us from free market worshippers in 1933 - it saved us again in 2008.
In the end, free market worshippers are going to be responsible for the collapse of the Western economy.
No problem at all, P-G. I can do it in bullet points:
1. If you'd bothered to read closely, assuming your actually read it at all, you might have noticed that your supposed evidence is 24 years old, and based on research from several years before that - a time when researchers were still puzzling over exactly what AIDS was. Now we've got the virus' genome figured out, even.
2. The author himself has abandoned and rejected his theory. All that remains is the unchallenged contention that unprotected anal sex increases the chance of HiV transmission. Well, duh - the same is true for heterosexual anal sex, and vaginal transmission is not impossible. So the real conclusion here is "wear a condom," not "gays iz awful."
3. All you've done is to once again demonstrate that there's no one quite so obsessed with gay sex as a supposedly prudish fundie. But hey, keep on protesting too much - you're good for nearly as many laughs as the submitted quotes.
...he cared about himself and his generation exclusively...
Whereas the GOP mindset is so far reaching. I mean you all but say "I got mine, the hell with the rest of you," not to mention shooting down any environmental initiative, simply because it's not bad yet. You guys' world view ends at your nose, so calling ANYONE short sighted simply reeks of hypocrisy.
Oh, and if a homosexual's idea caused the collapse of the economy, it would no more be homosexuality causing the collapse than heterosexuality declaring war on Iraq.
@#1538794
"...Doesn't the sort of link that P-G '13 posted in his first comment on this page somehow violate the TOS?"
Now, what was that about re. FSTDT shouldn't have TOS rules a la other forums/boards especially those who would have banned P-G before now eh, Canuovea...?
As I said before in another thread, I don't want to say 'I told you so, but I told you so '.
And I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if P-G had been banned many times - and from many other forums - previously, for reasons similar to those which 'He Who Must Not Be Named' (the Canadian fundie spam monster) was banned from here before.
Those forums =/= FSTDT? Why shouldn't this board be the same, re. trolls...?! If not, then why aren't the likes of 'TOS(ser the troll)', 'Erik (Bullshit)Brewer', 'Rubalamew Buttherts', and 'Orange Wit(l)ess' still infecting this board to this day?
*GASP* He was a HOMOSEXUAL?!?
Well, gosh darn it, that completely invalidates everything he ever said!
Just like how Alan Turing being homosexual means that Turing Machines don't work....
@ Lucilius
..... maintains that people infected with HIV only develop AIDS if exposed to cofactors such as other viruses and bacteria. He suggests that in many people HIV lies dormant without provoking a sufficient immune response to generate a positive antibody test result (seroconversion) from wiki - it seems the man maintains some standards Lucilius.
true for heterosexual anal sex,
with multiple partners perhaps. But any extension in exposure of one woman to one mans sperm lowers the risk of pre-eclampsia. Women can swallow sperm and it still confers that same benefit to 'training the immune system'
apparently exposure to multiple partners reduces fertility for non STD related reasons of rejection.
As usual, Bryan Fischer is lying for Jesus. If anything, Keynes was bisexual in his youth. He latter married and stayed married to the same woman until his death. There is no evidence he ever cheated on his wife.
While opinions on Keynesian economics vary across the spectrum, saying they are a homosexual doctrine is truly a big, stinking pile of Christian bullshit. As for the collapse of the Western Economy, blame your pals at the banks and your CEO buddies at Offshore-R-Us.
Isn't this the same argument that schoolboys say on the playground when they've been outmatched? "Yeah, well, YOU'RE GAY!" And Bryan here is a grown man, how sad.
You lose again, P-brain. That's Sonnabend's current contention, which still lacks widespread support; there are certainly a few known cases in which HIV doesn't develop into AIDS, but it's never been established that this is widespread. As a disease that destroys the immune system, of course its effects would be more readily apparent in those whose systems are already under attack. And most sixth-graders have already learned that citing Wikipedia doesn't improve your already nonexistent credibility.
And then you just run off on a tangent. But hey, thanks for demonstrating your lack of basic reading comprehension, and for the display of intellectual dishonesty by seeking to change the subject. You merely reveal yourself.
Confused?
