I don't agree with everything on that page, but it makes great points about cannabis in the Bible, and that Jesus healed using it. Jesus was a medical marijuana practioner.

Not zealotry, just really really weird. The Bible doesn't say anything about marijuana nor Jesus using it to heal people.
That said, it doesn't strike me as the usual examples brutish, subhuman, bigoted zealotry that's usually submitted on this site.
BUT, with a few exceptions, you could see the Nazarene as a proto-flowerkid.
So let me get that straight, not only did Jesus have long hair, a beard, wore long robes and preached about love and peace - he also smoked a spliff once in a while? Fucking hippie.
I think this might be a preview of what religious fundamentalists might look like in 50 or more years, once the war on black people *ahem* drugs is thrown out of politics like the image of the wife having to stay at home or racism already mostly has. After all modern fundies also argue that the bible is feminist *ahem* pro-"equal rights for women" and anti-slavery, so the image of dope-smoking Jesus isn't that far fetched.

I've read the complete Bible carefully several times and I don't recall any even oblique reference to cannabis. I'm happy to see it passed out to informed adults, but don't claim the Bible told you to do it, however, I DO remember the Bible was against lying.
Jesus turned water into wine and multiplied loaves, fishes, and pot (whoops) vegetables, which are good for you.
And lo, Jesus rolled a three skinner and passed it amongst the people. They numbered five thousand, yet they all managed to get stoned and listen to some Pink Floyd. There was great joy, which turned to much hunger....

While I don't think it was mentioned in the Bible, I know for a fact that it's not a New World plant. It's native to South Asia, actually, and it's been used by Hindus for thousands of years.
Well, actually, it's been traditionally used by a lot of cultures, all of them Old World.

There is evidence that the ancient Hebrews used pot in their worship. Anyone interested can google the word "kaneh bos" and learn more.
Scholars in Poland in the 1930's claimed that kaneh bos=cannibis. They think the word was mistranslated 2300 years ago by the Greeks to "cane", and that mistranslation is why there is no mention of the Hebrews' use of cannibis.
As for Jesus, some folks think certain verses from the New Testament show that Jesus was trying to bring kaneh bos back to the Jews of 2000 years ago.
Emperor Constantine and the Council of Nicea threw out so many gospels, and there is so much info in the Dead Sea Scrolls...who knows? Does not seem inplausible that if Jesus actually existed, and was anything like the person portrayed by the earliest gospels, that he'd be not just a radical hippie itinerant Rabbi, but a major user of kaneh bos. And that he was married to Mary Magdelene. Wish this could be somewhat substantiated by biblical scholars and archeologists/linguists, because it sure would help mellow out all these paranoid gun toting fundie asswipes if they would just fire up a good-godly sacramental blunt now and then!

So I suppose you have actual links to evidence to help back your rather dubious claims? If not, then I can't help but think you're quite the blind little pot supporter.
By the way, it'll take a decent amount of evidence for me to believe your rather extraordinary claims. Not only that, it'll have to be from trustworthy sources, and not just some pro-pot propaganda.

While I have no idea whether or not you're correct about the Hebrews and cannabis, if you make an assertion, it's not being rude for someone to ask for a link to evidence. Evidence for a claim is not some ridiculous, unreasonable demand.
While I do not agree with the constant attempts to justify marijuana use via inserting it into everything, I can certainly see some merit in people of the Biblical times being a bunch of stoners. It's really the only way people come up with shit as stupid as they did, anyway.
