For the life of me I can't understand what scares you people so much about gays. I've known lots of gay couples, my kids went to school with kids that had same-sex parents and nothing out of the ordinary ever happened.

my married partner and I live in a small village - about 300 people. We have been here for 10 years. It would be an understatement to say that we are a part of the community.
We are respected, valued as members of the community, and expected to participate in all community activities.
If one of us is unwell, little gifts are left by callers, a baskek ot figs, apricots, grapes, asparagus, depending on the season. But this is France.
You make America sound like a place of nightmare.
