["What is so wrong with forgiveness?"]

It suggests (in the scenes) forgiveness without repentance. It opens the door and promotes sin. Opens the door to atheism…waters down hell, denies hell, opens the door to the growth of atheism…Jesus talked more about hell than heaven… .

Forgiving adulteress woman … The basic error is it teaches people can do what they want and they will be forgiven even if they don’t repent. (The forgiveness scene of the adulterous) is historical nonsense. They didn’t stone women. They strangled them. Liberals love it because they use it to argue against capital punishment.

[....]

We respect the original intent (of Bible authors). We are pealing away the political bias. We are purifying the Bible.

yeah, the very idea of forgiving those who trespass against you. Can't have concepts like that in Christianity. Whatever next ? You'd have the fucking meek inheriting stuff.

Is Andy boy arguing that strangling women is much better than stoning them? That. of course, is in addition to disagreeing with his lord and savior about forgiving women who commit adultery.

Fucking Christianists think they are morally superior to their own Lord, Jesus Christ.He just died for their sins, they have to spout nonsense on the internet.

We no longer know the original intent of anything in the bible because of King James you idiot. By the way I am talking about Andy up there.

He's actually right that the story of the adulteress woman may not be historically accurate. That aside however, the theme of repentance IS in the story. Jesus told the woman, "go and sin no more" basically telling her to turn away from that sin and not do it again, i.e. to repent. So you are wrong Andy, like always.

Yes some people seem to forget that those are basically supposed to be aesops and not to be taken literally but they still do.

"..is historical nonsense. They didn’t stone women. They strangled them. Liberals love it because they use it to argue against capital punishment."

The last time I read the Leviticus, death penalty was the penalty for adultery. But it's maybe in one of these Bibles translated by liberals.

And I don't see the difference between being executed by strangling (a non-biblical execution method) or being executed buy stoning because; at the end of the day, someone will be dead and "libruls" will using it to argue against capital punishment as you said.

But, I forgot: logic and Schlafy are mutually exclusive.

"We violate the original intent (of Bible authors). We are adding political bias. We are rewriting the Bible."

Fixed it for you.

You're rewriting it with your stupid list of conservative words for it isn't enough reactionnaryconservative.

And which are your skills in philology and history? In latin, ancient greek, aramean and ancient hebrew languages?
The few CP members who have qualifications have given up because they have understood that this project is bollock.

And the first echoes are mostly negative among your fellow conservatives: you know you have problems when even Jack Chick thinks it's insanity.

@1436629

Dude, where have you been? The Conservative Bible project has been in the works for years.

And, to the topic at hand: I'm pretty sure that removing entire scenes from the Bible will not endear him toward the majority of Christians. Personally, I thought he was simply trying to just reword the Bible so that it fits with his political ideology. I didn't think he'd actually cut out the parts that he disagreed with. Pride is one of the seven deadly sins, Andy.

I'm a little rusty but I'm pretty sure that nothing Jesus said included a literal translation of Heaven or Hell. Those words and concepts came from the cultists who wrote about him after he died for good.

"We are purifying the Bible."

That sounds like something a crazy cult leader villain would say.
_ _ _

Anyway, as mentioned by Fundies Make Me Sick there is some historical basis for thinking the adulteress story was a later interpolation. However, as always, Andy takes a kernel of truth and turns it into a barrel of crazy.

@Micharion

King James had the might of the British military to back him up. Religious dissent would have been rewarded with a stunning view of the London streets from atop a pike.

Andy, on the other hand, is a single man whose power extends to a few dozen Conservapedia contributors and whoever actually takes his website seriously. The worst punishment a critic would get is getting banned from editing the site.

Mind you, your point is valid. There will be people who think this is the greatest achievement in literature since Twilight. I suppose the bigger question is whether that camp will outnumber those who want to keep the KJV pristine and unaltered (those Youtube vids of people burning the NIV still perplex me to this day).

I'd bet large sums that Schlafly could use scripture to prove that Jesus died on the cross exclusively for rich white Americans on the rightest fringe of the Republican Party.

Andy Andy Andy...how I wish someone would stone you. Preferably with large hard cover bibles. And good luck "purifying" the bible; that literary disaster is so warped that setting it aflame is the only way to purify it.
