Quote# 89034

There is so much estrogen in our water supply and misunderstood/misdirected adolescence testosterone, the gay section of the Bell curve has widened.

The result is what we are living through now, a sort of "gay bubble" not unlike economic bubbles, such as the housing bubble or tech stock bubble or political bubbles like the one for the One, Bubble Head Obama.

Sooner or later we figure it out and the bubble pops. (Addios, BHO!)

For the gay bubble, the Chick-Fil-A dust up is an aneurysm, likely fatal.

Not bloody likely. If anything, gays standing up for their rights is going to result in the Reich wing having a collective stroke, because, as we all know, nothing causes the fundies more angst than the idea of gay people who can and will defend themselves.

Can anyone shed light on why, in fundy-land, the Chick-fil-A palava is seen as some sort of triumph over teh gheys, instead of the disasterous corporate faux-pas it actually is???

Yup, "Chickfila" is a dust up all right. People around the world, who didn't know the company existed a week ago, now despise it and are sad that they can't ban it, because there is no branch of this company in their country. If anything, the "Chickfila" bubble has burst, right in the face of its owner Cathy (and isn't that the most effeminate name you've heard?).

Um, OK. Good luck believing that, if you actually do.

The Chick-Fil-A boycott fatal for the gay crowd? That's a laugh. From the hysterical response of the religious right's mouthpiece, Fox News, it's obvious that the boycott ruffled more than a few feathers, not to mention that it clued in people all across the nation and around the world that this business gives money to hate groups.

Something tells me this person doesn't understand what "bubble" means in the economic sense. It means inflated prices and over-investment and speculation in a market.
What does that have to do with homosexuality? I don't get it.

So being Gay is not a choice? Glad you figured that out.

Sooner or later we figure it out and the bubble pops. (Addios, BHO!)

Most likely this will help Obama. Are you seriously that out of touch? Why do you think Obama got elected in the first place? Could it have been that people finally saw the conservatives for what they really are?

Right, fatal. Unlike the effect of fundies who say they'll eat at Chick-fil-A many times a week to support them. They will become immune to death as their arteries are filled with Godliness rather than the saturated fat you get at other, less holy restaurants. So dig in, fundies! You are doing God and your heart a huge favor if you eat at Chick-fil-a every day! Remember, a Chick-fil-a a day keeps teh ghey away!

There's no evidence that giving boys large doses of estrogen will turn them gay. It may have other serious health effects, but turning gay isn't one of them. In one case, a boy underwent a sex change after a botched circumcision, was raised as a girl, given massive doses of estrogen at puberty to induce breast growth and still ended up attracted to women. Men with advanced prostate cancer are often given large doses of estrogen to suppress the cancer and I've never heard of them suddenly wanting to have sex with other men.

Yeah, I remember when Alex Jones said that last year. He was wrong then, and you're wrong here.

For the gay bubble, the Chick-Fil-A dust up is an aneurysm, likely fatal.

You wish the issue would just die and go away. It isn't. Christianity has had the power to silence, imprison or kill those opposing it's agenda for the last 2000+ years. This latest 'dust up' is the oppressed taking a little more power away from you. Chick-Fil-A has been exposed for bigotry, boycotted and banned.

You'd like to believe you've won, but you know you haven't. Every time a minority that has been oppressed and abused by the christian reich gains a little power, you lose some. You claim victory with your voices but you're secretly pissing your BVDs in terror because you know small victories like this one will eventually culminate in the hateful, vile religion you support having no political or social power in the US.

I can't wait, personally. However, I am enjoying watching christianity fade into a non-entity. It's about fucking time.

Homosexuality does not work that way. Also, Chick-Fil-A may have gotten record profits on one day, but the boycott could last for years. It's business will suffer in the long term.

Not only does the bell curve not work that way, statistics in general don't work that way. Homosexuality doesn't work that way. Hormones don't work that way.

Even if you happen to be right that the "Bell curve has widened," it's probably only because more homosexuals are willing to come out than 30-40 or whatever years ago. I AM impressed that YOU KNOW that it is estrogen in the water which is fomenting homosexuality.

The Chick-Fil-A episode will be essentially meaningless to groups on both sides of the issue.

Re #1435852 (tastes like hate graffiti).

I just can't condone using hate tactics against CFA or whatever. You might see it as fighting fire with fire, but I just see it as stooping to the level of hate groups.

You think sexuality can be represented by a bell curve? That the majority of the population is primarily bisexual, extending out to much smaller numbers of people lying at the extremes of being strongly heterosexual or strongly homosexual?

Your grasp of statistical theory falls far behind your embrace of bigotry.
