@Skyknight: and it applies solely to them. In fundieland, not only does freedom equal personal power, power is a zero-sum game. What one gains, another must lose.
This puts some of the recent protests we've seen decrying egalitarianism in a different light. When gays or minorities are empowered, the authoritarians perceive their own power being stripped away.

Perhaps they should put you in prison for abusing your children teaching them if they don't do what you tell them to do that will burn in eternal hell. Or how you indoctrinate your kids to believe that a talking snake caused the fall of humanity or the "original sin". Then you tell them to believe and trust you while you tell them that Christ died for them so they could go to heaven. You taught them how to group think and do the hokey pokey for God.
