Quote# 88644

[I don't really think you are curious about the stages of the evolution of the avian wing. We could discuss intermediates like archaeopteryx, or the different stages of feathers found with theropod dinosaur fossils, or the fact that birds produce both scales and feathers just like their theropod ancestors did, but you really wouldn't care... would you?]

As I am only remotely interested in the birds, I am very interested in the evolution of flying insects. Did these creatures also evolve from a dinosaur?

You really have to applaud their dedication to being uninformed.

If anyone ever needs an example of "willful ignorance", this should do nicely.

"I like insects therefore birds did not evolve from dinosaurs."

Motherfucking QED.

Somewhere on the thread he responds to a commenter, who is appalled at his lack of knowledge, with "Sarcasm off."
I should certainly hope so!

Translation:
I dont have any good argument to counter the facts that are very present about birds. Therefore, I will attempt a strawman argument and attempt to change the subject to flying insects and pretend (albeit stupidly) that they are somehow related to birds. Perhaps you are less aware of their evolution so that I can make a ridiculous correlation between insects and dinosaurs. A correlation so ridiculous and incoherent that it is hard to response in any sensible manner. Therefore, I will have stumped the evolutionist....

Yes. Yes, they did.

"Did these creatures also evolve from a dinosaur?"

No dude. They were magiced into existence by a non-existent being, about 6000 years ago. Seriously though, Axe Cop is about as believable as your religion, and it's co-written by a 6 year old. It is more imaginative, and entertaining for sure.

Moving the goalposts... Into another dimension! Ironically it's one smarter people readily access but intangible to the likes of the most-likely home-schooled OP.

Yes, little tiny dinosaurs with six legs and wings and their skeleton on the outside. Actually some of them were probably quite big by today's standards.

Ah, the classic "I'm not interested in real facts, only the facts that make me stupid" post. My faith in humanity continues to wane as more and more people subject themselves to delusions of creator grandeur.

I don't think you really are curious about the insects, either. I think it's just goalpost shifting.

Yes, flying insects evolved from dinosaurs. So did bats and flying fish. Anything with the ability to fly must have automatically evolved from dinosaurs. Oh, I almost forgot: airplanes and helicopters came from dinosaurs too. How else do you think they are able to fly?

Well Heaven-sent.
No.
Flying insects are insects.
Insects predate dinosaurs by well over 100 million years.

@D Laurier: "Insects predate dinosaurs by well over 100 million years."

Telling him that will only make him think that dinosaurs evolved from insects.

Yes, but only the six-legged ones. The four-legged ones were made by God.

This isn't as much "moving the goalposts" as it is "giving the goalpost a good, firm caber-toss".

"Bugs" used to be slang for insanity, as used in the monikers of mobsters Bugsy Siegel and Bugs Moran. I think it would be appropriate to bring back that meaning for Heaven-Sent here.
