Quote# 88563

Earlier tonight, George Zimmerman gave his first televised interview to Sean Hannity on Fox News. Zimmerman offered an apology of sorts to Martin's parents, but refused to express regret for what happened. He also gave his account of Martin's killing.

The apology came at the end of the interview, with Zimmerman telling Hannity what he'd say to Martin's family.

"I would tell them again that I'm sorry. I am sorry they buried their child. I can't imagine what it must feel like, and I pray for them daily."

Despite the apology, Zimmerman made it clear that he didn't regret any of his actions, because it was all divinely pre-ordained. "It was all God's plan, and for me to second guess it or judge it...," he said before trailing off. When Hannity asked if there was anything he'd do differently in retrospect, Zimmerman answered, "No, sir." Later he added, "I do wish there was something, anything, I could have done that wouldn't have put me in the position where I had to take his life." Earlier in the interview, Zimmerman defended having a gun on him, noting that he always carried one unless he was at work.

Preordained?

That makes a nonsense of free will. It means, essemtially, that everything is God's fault, and it lets us off the hook. How convenient!

The purpose of a gun is killing. If you carry a gun, you are likely to kill. This raises the whole hornet's nest of when is killing lawful?

Dear George,

What part of "Thou Shalt Not Kill" did you miss?

Love,

God

Had you listened to the 911 operator and stayed away, none of this would've happened, you asshole. God had fuck-all to do with it.

Bonus points for praying for the family.
I'm afraid those prayers don't mean jack to them, they would prefer to have their son.
And if that god he mentions is telling him to shoot random people on the streets, we should lock up that god too, for being an accomplice to murder by instigation.

Why do such ones always believe that God's Plan can't be critiqued? What is it about God that makes it impossible for him to make an honest, unwitting mistake?

What kind of sick fucks give a child-murderer airtime? What kind of sick fucks watch it?

Are all you guys just going to completely ignore that he had injuries consistent with being attacked? Or that the dispatcher's advice was 'we don't need you to follow him' which is far more vague than 'don't follow him?'

Also, 'what kind of sick fucks give a child murderer air time?' Murder is a legal definition. If Martin was behaving suspiciously, Zimmerman approached him and was then attacked, it is not murder by any legal definition. Moreover, I don't know that I'd consider a fit 17 year old a 'child.'

Maybe you're right. Why even bother with trials? People who are accused of murder shouldn't be allowed to tell their side of the story. If enough people who don't have all the facts believe you're guilty, we should hang you from the nearest tree, light you on fire and then sing songs and dance around the Wicker Man.

'If you carry a gun you are likely to kill.'

Really? I guess this explains why 99% of gun owners never commit a murder. Or, in fact, ever shoot anyone in self defense or otherwise. Or the fact that fucking Sweden has the third most guns per capita on the planet and has virtually no crime. It's nice to know you don't base your opinions on such bourgeois concepts as facts or evidence.

As for when is killing lawful, the answer is when you are attacked. Please stop pretending you're less biased than conservatives.

I guess the new excuse for anything is "God's will" especially when you express no regrets for killing an unarmed teen who was beating your bully ass not bludgeoning you with his own gun. Must be nice to smooth it all over with "God's will" that you got out of your vehicle against advisement, you followed him against advisement and the neighborhood watch handbook which clearly states not to approach the suspicious person to let the law enforcement do it's job, and you lied to the judge about how much money you had at your disposal during your original bail hearing. So not only is any credibility you have gone, so is any hope of being a free man. Rot in jail, where you belong.

Yeah, that's what Osama Bin Laden said, too. Funny how God always seems to agree with everybody.

"Thou shalt not kill unless the person is black, wearing a hoodie and is armed with Twizzlers; then it's OK."

@1427996:

"Or that the dispatcher's advice was 'we don't need you to follow him' which is far more vague than 'don't follow him?'"

Far more vague? Really?

And who cares that he has injuries consistent with being attacked? If he'd stayed in his damn car he wouldn't have BEEN attacked. You're going to give this fuckwit a pass for killing a kid, but not willing to give Trayvon a pass for beating on some creepy dude who's been following him?

Why is one act of self defense OK but not the other?

Indeed. His delusion told him that killing the kid was part of the plan, so, of course, there was nothing he could do but kill the kid.

@ #1427996

So, if you have a gun and know how to use it, please tell me how you get into a situation where you have to use deadly force to keep anyone but a complete lunatic at a distance? That is, of course, unless you're the kind of person who grabs a gun after the fact, and goes looking for revenge.

Also, despite the mountains of bullshit you have been fed, people do not divide neatly into two camps, Liberals, or Conservatives. My bias is strictly on the order of:

Religious Nut = Nut.

On a more personal note, if you haven't seen the man behind the curtain by now, you are not likely to.

Felons are the most religious group of people on earth.

Hey, Zimmerman got it out there that he prays so all will be ok.

@#1427996:

Zimmerman is in jail awaiting trial. The jury will determine if he is guilty of premeditated murder or just manslaughter.

It doesn't matter if the dispatcher didn't say "stay in your car, you idiot", or if Martin tried to slug the man who'd pursued him across half the neighborhood. Zimmerman pursued, confronted, and eventually killed a 17-year-old who posed no threat to anyone. He admits that, shows no remorse for it, and claims God ordained that he would kill Martin. That is enough to show that he is an evil fool. He will sit in prison for a long time. The question for the judge and jury is if he sits there for the rest of his life or for only ten years.

Also: learn to Google. Sweden is ranked at most 10th in the world for gun ownership (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number_of_guns_per_capita_by_country), with about a third as many guns per capita as the United States.

As much as you might like to deny it, all other things being equal, people having more guns leads to more people getting shot (that is not the same as the overall crime rate).

Now please stop typing. You are not helping.

well, if... and I mean IF... if he was defending himself then yes, it makes sense to have shot him.

But divinely inspired? Nice way to dodge responsibility.

And he shouldn't have gotten out of the car...

"I'm sorry I gunned down your kid, but I would do it again in a heartbeat."

Worst apology ever. And Zimmerman continues to be worshipped as a hero by the psychotic right wing in America. Seriously, what is it with the American right and worshipping psychopaths? They love Gordon Gecko (a Bond villain, practically), Ayn Rand (a sociopath), Ronald Reagan (Corporate sellout and traitor to his country), and now George Zimmerman.

Okay, he's not quite as crazy as the aforementioned three characters, but they've made him an object of worship because of their paranoia about helter skelter and losing their guns, even though that's not going to happen in a million years.
