People for the American Way should be renamed People for the un-American Way
These are the goals of the People for the American Way, as quoted directly from their website:
"People For the American Way is dedicated to making the promise of America real for every American: Equality. Freedom of speech. Freedom of religion. The right to seek justice in a court of law. The right to cast a vote that counts. The American Way."
Yup, that's just about as un-American as it gets.
Equality? un-American!
Freedom of speech? un-American!
Freedom of religion? un-American!
Justice? un-American!
Voting? un-American!
Yes, People for the American Way should be renamed People for the un-American Way. At least.
[for the occasional dumb shit who doesn't understand the concept of irony, the above is irony, get it? (probably not)}

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"
That has been part of the Constitution, the highest law of the land, since it was ratified more than two centuries ago. Who's the un-American one here?

Zipper: That's exactly what I thought. Using a negation prefix turns a word into its opposite! So smart!

Really? You find PFAW to be unAmerican just because most of them are liberals that just happen to be fighting for the Constitution?
And where exactly does Atheism enter that equation? Like, at all? And I daresay my citizenship is just as valid as yours, repugnant though you may be.

Fundies can't be Americans in the truest sense of the word. Look what happens when they come to power-- the country becomes a laughingstock.

He quotes the usual Declaration of Independence wording ("they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights") and goes on: "Thus, America was founded on the principle that the Creator God endowed men with certain unalienable rights."
These were intelligent men. They were issuing a document that was at best treason, and at worst, a declaration of war. You'd better believe they considered every word. They didn't choose "their Creator" out of thin air. They deliberately said "their Creator". They didn't say "the Creator God"; less did they say "our Creator" - they simply said "their creator". They left it open. It could be the Christian God, it could be one of the Hindu gods - it could even be the Flying Spaghetti Monster or some unseen force or physical principle. It could be a different "creator" for each person. It suggests that they were already thinking in terms later expressed in the First Amendment and the prohibition of religious tests for public office. Also, remember that they were writing the King George, who was nominally a believer in God, so they stated it in terms he would understand.

Well, according to Hulk Hogan's theme song, they fit the definition of "Real American" because they fight for the rights of every man.

Here's his thought process:
1. PftAW operates Right Wing Watch
2. Right Wing Watch features some of the worst quotes from fundies, via YouTube.
3. The comments sections of those videos are full of idiots who think that religion is somehow responsible for all the world's ills.
4. Thus, PftAW hates religion.
5. Thus, PftAW hates freedom of religion.
6. Thus, PftAW is unAmerican.
This probably makes sense in fundie world.
