Quote# 87767

Fourteen-year-old Caiden Cowger, who hosts the twice-weekly "Caiden Cowger Show," made his anti-gay proclamations in a recent broadcast, video of which was uploaded to his YouTube channel on May 26. "Homosexuality is a belief," Cowger, who has previously interviewed former GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain, declares. "The person is not born that way, no matter what Lady Gaga says...it is a decision."

After confessing that he was once friends with some kids who have since come out as gay, he notes, "They were not homosexuals [then]...they just decided all of a sudden, 'I think I'm going to be gay,'" before he eventually concludes, "I'm going to tell you this, guys: President Obama...Vice President Biden...is making kids gay!"

Cowger, who is identified by The New Civil Rights Movement as a Pentecostal Christian, slams homosexuality as "a perverted belief, it's immoral and not natural" before noting, "I'm not for bullying homosexuals, I believe that it's wrong. But when you're trying to teach them the word of God and they consider that bullying...I find that a big problem, not being allowed to convert other people to my religion."

But when you're trying to teach them the word of God and they consider that bullying...I find that a big problem, not being allowed to convert other people to my religion.

(emphasis mine)

If I say "leave me alone," then you have a duty to do just that: leave me alone.

If you persist, I will use legal means to make you leave me alone. That is not persecution. That is making you follow your obligation to leave me alone.

Please learn the difference before you grow up.

Only in America would anyone listen to a 14 year old preaching.

Let that brainwashed 14 year old take belief about homosexuality and shove it.

"when you're trying to teach them the word of God and they consider that bullying..."

No. It's not bullying, it's threatening that people are expected to conform to the nitwittery of a kid.

"I find that a big problem, not being allowed to convert other people to my religion."

Not as much of a problem for the kid as for those whom he wants to convert.

A 14 year old Torquemada in the making! A fundie Inquisitor who, with little life experience, thinks he knows it all.

At the risk of a godwin, a Hitler in the making.

This little shit makes me feel sorry for gays in America, and makes me glad I was born elsewhere than into the Middle Ages.

I wonder who is pulling his strings? I suppose he could be seen as an abused kid.

"Homosexuality is a belief," Cowger, who has previously interviewed former GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain, declares. "The person is not born that way, no matter what Lady Gaga says...it is a decision."

So what are you saying, Caiden - that you're actually turned on by boys but you've made a decision to prefer girls? Guess what: if you're turned on by boys and can make that decision, you're gay (or at least bi-sexual)!

Now me, personally, I wouldn't have sex with a guy with a gun to my head. It isn't a "decision" I made - I just don't find men any more sexually attractive than rhinoceroses, kangaroos or lawnmowers. That's the way my brain was wired. Brooklyn Decker, sure. George Clooney - as sexy as some women find him - no way! My wife, the other way around. On the other hand, if you're turned on by George Clooney, more power to you. I could care less. You should, too.

It says something about Herman Cain's credibility as a politician that he was interviewed by a fourteen year-old.

"...But when you're trying to teach them the word of God and they consider that bullying...I find that a big problem, not being allowed to convert other people to my religion."

So, if we try to teach people the supposed word of so other god or try to convert people to a religion other than yours THAT would be bullying, but not your god or your religion?

"oh boy," the fourteen year old boy jumped up after watching the President's historic endorsement of gay marriage "I've decided that I want to like sucking dicks, and face a lifetime of harassment, social ostricization, and the forfeiture of my civil liberties!"

If you think this is the kind of thing that happens in real life, then step away from the keyboard, you are an idiot.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Anyone who says that being gay is a choice has to be either bisexual or really ****in' stupid. And I'm too sure about the latter option, 'cause I'm not even sure you can even be as dumb as to not know which sex your drawn to. After all, what these people are implying is that, with enough willpower, a straight man (even a god-fearing, weight-liftin', country pop listenin' trucker who listens to Rush Limbaugh's broadcast while hauling ethanol through the midwest) can get in bed with another straight man (in this case then two redneck truckers) and enjoy it. But let's just keep it simple, Mr. Cowger... if you get a hard-on watching gay porn, you might just be gay. So just come out of the closet already... or at least realize that religious belief and equal rights are not mutually exclusive.

@LDM
You're being mighty optimistic.

Also, new rule: People on FSTDT must stop posting smug "he'll come out soon enough" comments regarding this kid. It's not funny, it's not clever, and it would be a stretch to call it an original insight. Now, if he were an adult anti-gay preacher, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that you were right. Cowger here, on the other hand, is simply a 14-year old with sawdust where his brain should be because he spends all his time listening to shit-for-brains talking heads like O'reilly, Beck and Limbaugh.

It's obvious if you listen to the kid he's trying to sound just like Limbaugh, no doubt in part because he knows how much Limbaugh makes. Unfortunately, it's working for him.

But on this subject, something tells me the kid doth protest too much

"I'm not for bullying homosexuals, I believe that it's wrong. But when you're trying to teach them the word of God and they consider that bullying...I find that a big problem, not being allowed to convert other people to my religion."

When you keep harassing your ex-friends by telling them that they're worthless abominations that are going to burn in hell if they don't behave exactly like you do is no better than bullying.

I always ask a homophobic fundie, "When did you choose to be a heterosexual?" It's a pretty big decision so they must remember the time and date. Of course, I get a blank stare.

This is called "going through puberty and growing up". How old were those friends when they were "not homosexuals"? 8, 9, 10 years old?

But Cowger's trying to teach them the words of Bible God, who obviously doesn't exist, and not the words of true God, who doesn't exist either, but He doesn't exist in a nicer way. Non-existent Bible God's so-called words are nothing more than the demented raging of middle eastern loonies.

True God's words are easy to understand and offer easy advice to follow. The words are, "Peace, harmony and tolerance for all. Don't be a dick. Cosmic love for all eternity, man! Life is good. Insane cultists are bad!"

These are the words homosexuals heed. These are the words atheists heed.

I hate when people say it's a choice.

You're saying then that gays/lesbians choose to live a life where they'll be marginalized, bullied, threatened, and maybe even physically harmed.

I really hate people like you, Caiden.

Not being allowed to discriminate against people and bully them is not being bullied yourself, and you do not get a free pass to dehumanize others and treat them like garbage by claiming that it's a part of your "religious beliefs." Actually, saying such things indicates that you possibly need to be on a terrorist watchlist of some kind.

Being fourteen doesn't excuse this boy's willfully ignorant bullshit, and getting called out for it is the only way he will be able to mature and leave his parents' brainwashing behind. Hopefully he will and one day look back on this with shame.

@ Shykid

I reckon none of that will happen unless he goes down the Haggard or Swaggart road and gets caught out.

The truth is that at 14 years old this sort of talk can only be as the result of indoctrination. It may, however open him to the possibility that sexual orientation doesn't just point in one direction. What follows from this is if he is gay orientated, then he will be outed or crack under the strain of living a lie. Or if really straight, then he is another Fred Phelps in the making. Neither is much to look forward to.

Fourteen year olds should be left alone to be kids. Turning them into arrogant gits only makes problems for them in later life.
