Quote# 87753

With environmentalism, especially the radical version of it—you know we used to have conservationism in America with Teddy Roosevelt and these people—but now environmentalism has taken over and nature is the most important thing. So you have to adjust everything to nature. Nature is viewed as a holistic tyrant, so to speak, and holism really teaches tyranny. Fascism is all connected here. You have to bow everything to nature’s holistic inter-relatedness and you can’t buck anything with regards to what nature does. This is the problem with environmentalism and why it’s so dangerous, because it becomes your tyrant.

Israel would be the example of this originally, as they were commanded to go in and subdue the promise land and fill it and that’s what they did and for a while it was a good land, then these other things came in, environmentalism came in and destroyed their culture, what I call the Baalism, the nature worship, instead of worshiping the Creator they worshiped nature and this led to the destruction of their society. I think the same things are happening in our own country today too. We have this nature-worship now that is infiltrating our society, infiltrating Christianity too, and it is bringing us down and it is something that people need to be wary of. There is a dark path to this whole environmental discussion that people need to know.

Yeah, except there is no worship, no holistic nonsense involved in environmentalism.

You religious types always bitch about being lumped in with the more fanatical lot, but you're doing it to extremes here.

Go ahead. Defy that evil Nature. Quit eating, drinking, and excreting, and then step off a precipice to show you can, too, fly.

We have to adjust everything to Nature, or we will all be doomed, when we've killed off Nature.
It's not worship, it's stewardship, something even the Bible tells us to do.

1) You don't actually know what the word "holistic" means, do you?
2) Even the Bible talks about looking after the planet in the guise of stewardship.

Your thought processes are so inextricably linked to your fundamentalist religion, that you can't think outside religious terms. Therefore, to you, every concept that you don't like is an opposing religion - atheism, enviromentalism, feminism etc. Sorry, but just because you are unable to think straight does not mean that everyone else is like you. As hard as it obviously is for you to comprehend, not everyone has a religion. Not every "ism" is a religion. Some people just like to base their beliefs on evidence. Simple as that.

All this time I've been keeping my refridgerator well stocked so I've always got food to eat. Little did I know that I've been engaging in Fridge-Worship.
All hail the mighty Fridge!

Yeah! Screw environmentalism! LA wants their smog back! They want to be able to use the old UCLA joke* again.

Ah, that's the smell of right wing success! If only we could get rid of the EPA and deregulate businesses then every city could look like that!

The conservatives clearly have their priorities straight!

It's not environmentalism that's destroying Christianity, Christianity is destroying Christianity.

How does throwing your garbage into the air and water, killing off whole species and letting fly-by-night contractors drain wetlands to build houses on the mud worship the Creator? Would we honor Frank Lloyd Wright by burning down his houses or honor Brunelleschi by knocking down his cathedral dome in Florence?

Anti-environmentalism doesn't worship the Creator - it worships the almighty buck. Come back when they want to save a buck by dumping toxic mine tailings in a stream by your house.

Come to think of it...WHICH Baal? I know of at least three--Baal-Berith, Baal-Zeboul, and Baal-Hadad. {wonders if Akkadians ever referred to the Hebrew divinity as Baal-Yehowah or thereabouts}

People have been criticising nature-worship and mysticism in the environmental movement for at least 25 years now. Someone on the left who did it very effectively was Murray Bookchin. The first paragraph here is like a very crude, ill-thought-out version of that kind of critique.
The second paragraph though is the most absolute nonsense. Like with so many quotes on here, I can't decide if this person is wicked and deliberately trying to deceive people, or if he is just stupid.

I rather worship Nature than your Demiurge. Your Demiurge is a giant psychopathic turd...the REAL Satan!

Nature & Godhead are one & the same. All is Deity. Pantheism, which I believe, makes sense. You are a meathead who talks through THIS ORFICE:

Time for a "Holy Ghost Enema" administered by The Supreme DeviMata AdiShakti Herself!

And lotsa fiber....

What Janet is saying is "God made and gave me my SUV and I'm going to drive that gas guzzling sucker anywhere I want, dammit."

Everybody knows energy conservation and recycling are un-American. Leave the lights on! Use plastic bags! Drive SUV's. Chop down trees. Frack natural gas (even if gas is for wusses). Oil! Oil! Oil!

Solar energy is a communist European scam! Don't be fooled by it. Wind energy comes from the devil. Who wants one of those huge ugly turbines around when you can have a quiet, clean atomic energy plant?
