Except that choosing to not have sex with someone is basically the exact opposite of raping them. You kind of HAVE to perform an unwanted sexual act on a person in order to commit rape.
And I'm confused - is this person actually in favour of women's rights, in a bizarre, totally igorant and misinformed way?

What's your opinion, then, of people who choose to be celibate?
6/9/2012 3:04:21 AM
A lesbian (who is also a homosexual) is having a sexual relationship that includes at least two women, hopefully with consent.
I don't know about you, but most people I interact with I don't have a sexual relationship with. Only one of the many necessary persons in my life I have sex with.

Being gay is akin to rape?!?! WTF??!?
Me being gay just means I am attracted to my same gender - it has nothing do to with excluding women as part of an agenda.
I am all for women being treated equally as men. Same job - same pay - same opportunities.
How does your crap deal with Lesbians? Is that akin to rape?
As to the "recent rise" - society is becoming more accepting of homosexuality. We have always been here, now we're able to be more open.

I'm going to jump on an interesting phrase in this quote that needs to be called out: "recent rise of homosexuality". Qoeleth isn't calling out the gay rights movement (which we must admit is a relatively recent phenomenon) but rather an increase in the number of gay people (which, if the numbers are rising, it's still remaining fairly constant as a percentage of a rising population). The only thing that's truly different here, is that more people are willing to admit it.
My dad used to tell a joke about how when he was a kid, if you went into a drugstore for cigarettes and condoms, you could either loudly or in normal speech ask for the cigarettes but you'd have to whisper "and the condoms". By the time I came of age, you could loudly ask for the condoms but whisper for the cigarettes.
Wouldn't it be nice to see the same type of shift in declaring oneself both gay and religious?

What about female homosexuals?
6/9/2012 4:08:37 AM
Which, of course, is why male homosexuality has been so common historically in Greece, Rome, and the Persian Empire, and still is the rule among unmarried males of certain tribes in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
6/9/2012 4:34:15 AM
That's because you are mental.
6/9/2012 4:54:45 AM
... and this, children, is why you need to think before posting things

I suggest that the recent rise of homosexuality is a reaction made by a patriarchical culture to the movement to give women equal rights. Homosexuals are trying to derive women even of the status in human relationships.
And this would explain the looonnnggggg history of homosexuality before the sufragette movement how???
The "recent rise" of homosexuality is SEVERAL THOUSAND years old.
There were gay men living with their gay partners in old kingdom Egypt some 5000 years ago.
6/9/2012 5:34:18 AM
Yeah, how dare those gay men try and deny women of their role as mindless baby producers which the Catholic Church has thrust them into?
Heck, women don't even count when your lot talks about teh ghey!
6/9/2012 5:46:19 AM
Catherine Breillat? Is that you?
6/9/2012 5:46:24 AM
Also is lesbianism also included here? Because the implication is yes, making you even more retarded than otherwise - which is a shitload, by the way.
6/9/2012 6:06:55 AM
I suggest that the Catholic priesthood is a reaction made by a patriarchical culture to the movement to give women equal rights. Catholic clergymen are trying to derive women even of the status in spiritual matters.
A Catholic clergyman is effectively saying "I can go ahead and live a full spiritual life without including women, without having the consent of a woman." The priesthood seems to be all about reducing the power and status of women- of making them unnecessary. I think, in spirit and effect, it is almost akin to rape.
But I digress...
6/9/2012 6:07:40 AM
Where the hell do you even get an idea like this, let alone accept it as a good one and then repeat it?
6/9/2012 6:12:51 AM
You have GOT to be shitting me. Gay men existing rapes women? What kind of insane troll logic is that!?
And does this person even know of the existence of lesbians or bisexuals?
6/9/2012 6:33:29 AM
Oh My Dog!
Lesbians are o.k. then?
6/9/2012 6:38:24 AM
Then how come in the Middle Ages, which as a Catholic fundie you think was the best time ever, neither gay men nor women had any civil rights. Furthermore, how come lesbians exist?
6/9/2012 6:43:42 AM
6/9/2012 6:52:03 AM
"without having the consent of a woman"
I don't need your consent to fuck another dude, you crazy bitch. If that seriously bothers you, then you have some major ego and/or control issues. Not being all that sexually attracted to women means I am mostly gay, not misogynist.
"it is almost akin to rape."
...so, you think not having sex with you is practically tantamount to rape? WTF is wrong with you?!
6/9/2012 7:08:19 AM
In defense of the source, other posters in this thread are telling the OP that s/he is making ridiculous leaps in logic and that the post makes no sense.
6/9/2012 7:25:17 AM
A homosexual is effectively saying "I fancy people of the same sex"
A hetrosexual is effectively saying "I fancy people of the opposite sex"
That is all.
6/9/2012 7:31:44 AM
What recent rise in homosexuality? There may be a rise in people publicly willing to admit to being gay, but that's not the same thing.
6/9/2012 7:49:56 AM
Why do a lot of fundies rarely mention lesbians when talking about same sex attraction?
