I actually agree that the Pope hates Africans. How else can one explain the fact that the Bishop of Rome is awarded the greatest luxuries imaginable (paid for by the congregation) and the Church itself has billions of dollars in gold, while at the same time most Catholics worldwide live in crushing poverty? I think the Church refuses to help (or makes the problem worse: see the AIDS affair) on purpose, because it is a well-known fact that prosperity leads to atheism, or at least to secularism. Really, as an institution, the Catholic Church is just plain evil, and I say that as someone who was baptized as Catholic.

By rights, nobody should really give a fuck what the Pope or the Vatican say or think. The entire Vatican machine is a relic of the dark ages that should have been abolished centuries ago.

I also am not saying Ordinary Catholics are evil; I'm saying the higher-ups are, even more so because they are so brazen about it.

Now, referring back to the OP, he brought up a disturbing point when he said that the Catholic faith is in his blood. It is a well-known fact that fundies, and only fundies, have far more children (usually three to four times the average rate) than sane people. It is also true that even in this information age, the rate of deconversion from fundamentalist craziness is less than 50%, so even if some fundies become apostates, the majority of their siblings will retain the faith and indoctrinate more children. It does not take a genius to realize this means that ultra reactionary fundies are the fastest-growing demographic. Adding to the disturbance is that no society has had secularism and equality for more than three generations. It appears inevitable that liberals always get outbred by fundies who reverse everything. It is happening in Israel and America, and since every other First World country has decreasing population, it will inevitably happen there too. For all we know, it is possible that there were movements towards equality and rationality in ancient times that were quashed because reactionaries treated women like baby factories and simply produced more patriarchal theocrats than the alternative. Like it or not, the people quoted in this site will become mainstream before the end of this century, thus forever undoing the Enlightenment. Mathematically, there is nothing we can do to prevent it. All the efforts of secularists and humanitarians are like trying to dam Niagara Falls by throwing a pebble at it. So if you are not a rich Christian male, the future looks bleak, I'm afraid.

Although they are trying hard, the Catholic church, despite their pedophilia and love of death, is not yet quite evil enough to deserve your continuing adherence to the faith. Even God has left the Catholics for more malevolent atmospheres and is currently wowing the quasi-demonic, mostly insane protestant fundie crowd.

There are perfectly good reasons for God's new stance. Namely, His love of bigotry, slavering idiocy, and raging frustrated nincompoops is more likely to be satisfied by His current hovering position.

Therefore, I recommend that you convert to fundie protestant cultism, as I'm sure that you, like Him, will achieve greater satisfaction.
