If homosexuality is a chemical imbalance brought on by the environment, why is it also a choice? Without wishing to get too deeply into determinism, it seems like you're saying homosexuality - by your own standards and (inaccurate) causal factors - is unavoidable. In your framework it is the same as all those people who "choose" to have manic depression or schizophrenia.

Why 'murder' as your example of choice? Anything is a choice. This asshole could have just as easily said 'Homosexuality, like Coke or Pepsi, is a choice'. But, that wouldn't have been nearly as shocking. Except we have lots and lots of data about homosexuality and, while not yet entirely conclusive, all of it points to the very strong probability that homosexuality is an inborn biological trait.

On this logic, just about anything is a choice, and therefore can be likened to murder. Like heterosexuality, Christianity, eating spaghetti, even breathing:

One chooses to engage in breathing behavior in order to satisfy dark urges. The breather, like the murderer, can choose to refrain from acting upon this dark impulse (by suffocating themselves), but decides to succume and commit acts of vulgarity. Therefore, it stands to reason that the same mentality that possesses the murderer, also possesses the breather. That is a chemical imbalance in the brain brought on by environmental forces or stress.
Seriously though, an argument can be made that "Christian behaviour" is far more of a choice than "homosexual behaviour" given that the former is not the result of a built-in biological instinct. And that relishing watching the majority of humanity being tortured forever is a little more of a "dark impulse" than being romantically involved with a person who is *gasp* the same gender as you.
