I like how the people who talk with 100% certainty as to what goes on in public schools, are the ones who have never set foot in one.

Your opinion is invalid and useless as an actual tool in understanding children's development and educational needs.
Just thought I'd let you know.
5/4/2012 10:26:41 AM
Adding "In my opinion" doesn't make what you said less stupid. It's like a shed I saw in the small town of Palestine, Illinois, which is close to where I live (Robinson, Illinois; bigger than Palestine but still pretty small) that had "WELCOME TO THE COMMUNIST TOWN" spraypainted on it and in the corner it had "IN MY OPINION" spraypainted on the corner. Though that one was funny because it made no sense; Rookie here takes the concept of the Communist Town shed up to 100³.

Yawn... another nut criticizing the "liberal agenda" of public schools...
5/4/2012 10:30:12 AM
Blacks Behaving Badly? Is that anything like Girls Gone Wild?
5/4/2012 11:24:47 AM
Yup, readin', writin' and 'rithmatic' are just liberal concepts.
5/4/2012 11:25:14 AM
In my opinion.
Yes, in your opinion.
Wanna hear my opinion?
5/4/2012 11:58:57 AM
Hell, one of our local high schools has an Artichoke Club. You wouldn't believe what those kids will do for a fix.
5/4/2012 1:23:09 PM
[Drugs, gangs, "bullying" which is just a way of saying blacks behaving badly,]
Because only black kids do these things...
Please name some.
[ anti-government clubs,]
Like the Tea Party?
[ anti-christian clubs (FFR bunch)]
Because heaven forbid non-christians have their own little get togethers. And what about Christian School groups like the FCA?
[Test scores and achievements are at all time lows and lower than pre-WWII.]
And ignorant adults like you are doing NOTHING to stop that.
[Our kids are indoctrinated and stupid...]
Just like our adults!
God bless America!

@ Brendan Rizzo
Leighton Buzzard is entirely right about the school system.
The confusing naming of 'Public' and 'Private' schools goes back to medieval times when there were no free schools; the only kind of school was a paying school, and the difference between them was that 'Public' ones had to admit all who could pay and pass the examination whereas 'Private' schools only admitted children of clergymen or members of certain guilds.
In the 1500s and 1800s there were reforms passed to eliminate the 'private' schools. So the term 'public' school is only applied to schools that are old enough to have lived through the period when there was a distinction between 'public' and 'private' (like Eton, Harrow, etc. which are all over 400 years old)
Schools that are 'public' but were not around at the time when 'private' schools also existed are known as 'independent' (because they are selective and fee paying, but not old enough to be 'public' schools)
Basically it's like the difference between Ivy League colleges and others. Public schools are functionally identical to Independent schools but not as prestigious (old).
Government run free schools are called state schools (because they are run by the state)

Can't they think of one damn thing original?
5/4/2012 3:10:30 PM
In your opinion. Meaning completely void of fact.
5/4/2012 3:13:15 PM
Where do these people get their ideas from? Do they have any sort of grip on reality at all?
5/4/2012 3:35:09 PM
@Brendan Rizzo et al
Lower test scores are a statistical aberration. They're the result of broader demographics taking the tests and not just the so-called academic elite.
Once demographics are accounted for the test scores actually show an INCREASE across all demographic groups.
This is consistent with the Flynn Effect that someone mentioned earlier.

I just want everyone to know that when I see idiots like this guy ranting, it makes me ashamed to be an American.
5/4/2012 5:27:42 PM
Apparently Bill went to public school.
5/4/2012 5:48:32 PM
I wonder how many of the computer whiz kids, engineers, technicians, etc., i.e. the people who design all the cool stuff Billy Rooks probably identifies with the superior Christian American way of life, come from home schooling families or parochial schools. I'm guessing, uhh, none.
Home schoolers usually end up flipping burgers or stacking shelves, students from parochial schools become store managers or insurance adjusters, students from high brow private schools go into business, medicine or such.
The whiz kids, engineers, technicians, etc. come from the public school system. Billy should look around his house and decide how much of the cool stuff he wants to trash, seeing how they come from satanic, immoral, criminal enterprises.
5/4/2012 6:04:56 PM
"the Christ is just a myth. "
Well, you got one part right...
5/4/2012 6:46:56 PM
Who the hell told you that oral sex isn't real sex? O.o
5/4/2012 11:52:42 PM
That resembles my public school education in the same way that a banana resembles Taiwan.
5/5/2012 1:43:40 AM
You vote for people who cut funding from education, and then you blame the very predictable failures of underfunded schools on people you don't like.
5/5/2012 4:52:29 AM
Guess who the bullies were in my (mostly) upper middle-class white bread home town? Here's a hint: their bigot fathers proudly flew the American flag in front of their Victorian houses. And, of course, their shit didn't stink.
5/5/2012 5:49:03 AM
At least the last line is correct.
5/5/2012 12:38:29 PM
I have come to the conclusion that saying "this is just my opinion" is an ad hoc admission that you don't have anything to back up your case.
