Quote# 87116

Joe McCarthy was a hero whose name was smeared by very real Communists who had infiltrated influential areas of American life.

Did y'all know that actor Will Geer, "Grandpa Walton", was one of the first registered Communists in the USA in the 1930s? That hurt his career as young man and rightfully so. Many more Hollywood types were known to have commie ties but could not come out of the closet.

JM was blowing their cover and thus had to be silenced by a vigorous hate campaign that idiots like Tom Hanks and Sean Penn continue to advance to this day.

Of course, ground zero for the cultural poison McCarthy warned about can be traced to college professors and "elite" writers after WW2. Today's swarm of mindless liberals in journalism, the arts, and grammar school teaching jobs would not exist without the groundwork laid by these Marxist thugs of yesteryear.

Commie ties are the worst. I hate wearing those things. They serve no function whatsoever.

But what about the Jews? BarbT forgot that was all the Jews' fault.

Please keep your accusations straight.

Or maybe it was that "elite" writer Gore Vidal, or was it Truman Capote? Couple of queers any way round. We all know that the fags are really at fault. Right?

Get that McCarthy back in here to put things right again. Maybe he'd finally expose Ron Paul as the communist he is.

I often have a hard time discerning the difference between Joe McCarthy and Joe Stalin. They both made entire families disappear in a non-stop witch-hunt that basically covered up their own agendas that redefined what it meant to be patriotic in ways that turned their own countrymen against one another.

Basically they're both Joe the Asshole to me.

Funny, I can't recall ever hearing this kind of thing said by people who were actually alive and cognizant when McCarthy was at his peak.

In BarbT's world an elite writer is anyone who can write.

As a theoretical conservative, I believe anyone should be able to belong to any political party they choose.

Of course, that's why I'm not a Republican.

In her defence, she does say one thing that's true: Sean Penn really is an idiot.

Joe McCarthy was a hero? Have you fallen down recently, taken a blow to the head? You seem to have lost your grip on reality, dearie. Maybe you should lie down for a while...

You shouldn't need to cover your political views in a country with Human Rights. Only in dictatorships are you not allowed to think for yourself.

"these Marxist thugs of yesteryear"
You mean people who just minded their own business, lived and let live, until some neighbor got mad at them for not cutting their hedges the right way and reported them as Commies? That kind of thuggish behavior?

And then Orson Welles made a film about the whole thing, which made him a million bucks, which he subsequently used to finance an expedition to the center of the Earth, where he, along with Chuck Norris and Ted Nugent, bravely fought off hordes of communists and space monkeys led by a robot Karl Marx.

See, I can make up historical BS too.

I guess he missed the part of the fifties when McCarthy was thoroughly defamed and discredited.

I would watch that movie.

The Puritans were real heroes whose names were smeared by very real witches who had infiltrated influential areas of colonial life.

Did y'all know that man Thomas Jefferson, "wall between church and state," was one of the first people to give protection to fake Christians who were really witches when he decided to merge our God-given land with his country? That saved his career as a founde of a country, but wrongfully so. Many more suspicious types were known to have witch ties but not all came out of the closet.

The Puritans were blowing their cover and thus had to be silenced by a vigorous hate campaign that idiots like the Quakers and Unitarians continue to advance to this day.

Of course, ground zero for the cultural poison the Puritans warned us about can be traced to Satan and other residents of Hell after the founding of the United States. Today's swarm of evil witches in journalism, the arts, and grammar school teaching jobs would not exist without the groundwork laid by these devil-spawn thugs of yesteryear.

See? Just a few edits and it's that easy to show that Joe McCarthy reall was on a witch hunt.

I think what's unjust here is that there's a maybe deliberate confusion between people who were spying, working with the Russians etc, and people, like Will Geer, who were just Communists cos they were interested in worker's rights.
Far from being the creation of elite professors, etc, the American left had firm roots and widespread support in the industrial working class at one time. Did Woody Guthrie, Big Bill Haywood, Sacco and Vanzetti, get their radicalism from "college professors and elite writers"? No, they got it from their own experience.

Actually, Walton's Mountain had a decidedly pink tinge, as Will Geer was openly bisexual and was an early gay rights campaigner.

Barb, I'm a writer and my wife is a teacher, we'd love to have you round for dinner some time. X

Know what RR loser?

Kicking McCarthy square in the nuts is one of my time travel wishes. And if he recovered enough to continue his anti-jew liberal witch hunt I'd have to do it several times. When you raise garbage like him to icons of liberty you didn't only miss the boat to liberty and freedom, you missed it by weeks.

When did shitstorms like McCarthy become the answer? When you never understood the question.

That was excusable in the fifties, if your eighty now, Grow the fuck up.

So what if they had "commie ties"? As long as people aren't spies for a foreign nation, they have every right to follow whatever political ideology they want, right? There are probably just as many right-wing spies as left-wing spies.

Liberalism is a right-wing ideology, stupid, Marxists despise that about as much as they despise conservatism.

The vigorous hate campaign started on McCarthy's side, dumbass. It was only when he went all-out paranoid crazy that he got a lick of the spoon himself.
