Hugs for Frelus! I can't claim to have been /properly/ bullied, ever. I was just one of those kids who no one interacts with, and even that left me emotionally messed up and with low social skills. So you...hell's bells, I don't even know what to say. Don't hesitate to share that as you keep going, with real-life people, not just no-accounts like us. Acknowledging it does not make you weak, ever.
To acidhead: Real challenges can make people stronger. Bullying is not a real challenge. It's just teaching people that injustice is a fundamental principle of reality, and making them less whole. Despite Lifetime movies, there is almost never a 'good ending' to a bullying scenario. There's the 'okay' ending, if you're lucky, and a variety of 'bad' ones. It is not a good simulation of 'real life,' because in real life if something like that is happening, it's probably because the assholes doing it learned it was okay when they were kids. Bullying isn't a simulation of anything. It's a real, bad thing.
Everyone deserves protection. That's why we have society at all. If you're so anxious to be among the tigers, go outside the wall and wrestle them. There is no need to make new tigers now that we have shut the real ones out.

Bullies don't do anything important. They're wastes of oxygen.

Then please make the acquaintance of my ex-military friend, who hates bullies, defends the weak and considers himself "the bully of bullies". I'm sure he would be glad to provide you with fast and free dental surgery.

While this guy is obviously a giant douchebag I'm not seeing any kind of 'fundy-ness'in this nor the other post he made in that thread.

Lpopman, but we are living, and truly living. Do you think these clods and thugs ever really see the moon, over the sea or the spires of a city or blazing white behind a pear tree in flower? Do they ever perceive a song in the wind, or write a single line of poetry? The advice I wrote for Frelus is medicine I have taken myself, even if some of it inconveniently late. And we are a community here, not a bunch of crazed rats in a virtual cage. Don't be broken!

Doperwtje, "voe victis" is the fundamental at the root of all fundamentals. It's simply been stripped of its churchwordy parsley.

@ Frelus - I am echoing the promise that it does get better. I was mercilessly bullied in middle school (grades 5-6 in the US), and I still consider those to be the very worst years of my life.
The other posters who said college is a different world are spot-on. High school society is pretty much meaningless there, as it is in the rest of the real world.
The saying that "the best revenge is living well" is apt. I have constructed the best life (career, relationships, travel, hobbies, etc.)possible, with some luck but also a lot of effort. Right about now it seems like a pretty great life to me, and is even viewed with some admiration (and sometimes with envy) by others.
Many years later, I don't think much about those bad years. I am glad they are behind me,and I am very glad that I did not let the bullies destroy the rest of my life.
Just don't ever give up on yourself. Your posts prove how very intelligent and articulate you are. Writing can be a great way to release and channel the anger and the pain that has been inflicted on you, plus you clearly have a talent for it.
It sounds like you are doing everything right to care for and heal yourself. I swear to you that it gets much better. Hugs to you and wishing you the very best of everything.

As a man who has endured bullying, and tackled depression since childhood, I lend my voice to the growing chorus: it gets better!
I wish I had something profound and wise to add to that, but your life and your future are too vast for anyone to sum up in a simple proverb. I can say this though: I know from experience how isolating depression can be. When you feel alone, try to remember that your life matters! There are people in your world who know this now, and there will be many people in your future whom you will matter to as well. It may be hard to see this as being true when you are depressed, but it is something I guarantee is true.
Best wishes to you, now and in the future you will make for yourself.

Funny that you would call anyone a "prick" when you are clearly one of the biggest assholes on earth.
I bet you have lots of friends...not.
And it is YOU who is sickening you stupid fuck. I never understand how people like you reason...you just want the schoolyard to be like an all out battle royale every day...every man for himself? Are you fucking retarded or just a willfully ignorant prick asshole? Or both?

oh you would like them. you were probably one yourself. you probably still are. the thing about bullies is, they can get far by pushing other people around, but once you get anywhere worthwhile, people AREN'T pushed around. you cant push them around. it pays much better to be diplomatic with people. then when you need something, you have only to ask.
really, i feel sorry for this guy. and his children. and their children if liquid has not driven them to vow to be better than him.

So Life = Thunderdome now, eh?
Well get out there and live it up. Just remember, "Two men enter, one man leaves...", and even the best fighters lose at least once....and you know what happens to the losers, right?

@Reynardine:
My main difficulty IRL is that coupled with my Apsergers Syndrome (late diagnosis and nigh on impossible to get treatment for as a diagnosed adult in the UK on the NHS) I find it difficult to socially interact. I'm like a frightened rabbit caught in a spotlight when I go to meet people, which has a tendency to lead to a panic attack which induces agoraphobia.
I am taking steps to try to break the cycle with a creative project, but it is too early to discuss at the moment.
Thank you for the words of encouragement, Reynardine.

Lpopman, two simple things to remember:
A. As I told Frelus, all you have to do is gently coax people to talk about themselves, and they'll think you're a fascinating conversationalist.
B. If you find them intimidating, picture them in red flannel union suits with the dropseats down (ssshhhh!)

Thank you for the advice, encouragement and most importantly thanks for the kittehs. Definitely put a smile on my face. I'll head over to the forums later, and see if I can practice some of your advice :)
