This comment in the link sums it all nicely:
And if you think about it, a lack of societal acceptance and the prevalence of bigotry against gay people is a more logical reason for depression than what the religious right is claiming. This new research Matt Barber is denouncing only confirms what I've believed all along. People who are demonized and demoralized are sad. Duh! - L. G. Keltner

So the Liberty Council Action believes the trained psychologist is wrong.
Citation needed.

I wonder how much the Australian study cost, and the one by APA, to tell us something blatantly obvious. If we heterosexuals were brought up in a majority homosexual society and were constantly told that our sexual preferences were wrong and evil, we'd probably end up pretty messed up too.

One question Matt: Without the social pillory, how would any of us know what we are "supposed to" be ashamed of?
You sir, are a moron.

But Matt Barber, vice president of Liberty Counsel Action, tells OneNewsNow other research has repeatedly concluded that it is the lifestyle -- not discrimination or lack of societal "acceptance" -- that results in homosexuals seeking counseling [citation needed]

But according to disgruntled female Aussie friends, an Australian homosexual is a man who would rather spend Friday night with his wife or girlfriend than with his mates.
Which makes you wonder about definitions and sampling.

So regardless of what anyone else with actual credentials or any studies say, being gay is a 'lifestyle' choice that is basically a destructive mental disease that requires them to seek psycological help?
OH good,I'm so glad your bigoted, religious based world-veiw could clear that up for us.

I think we'd have better luck defining religious fundamentalism as a psychological disorder than any sexuality that isn't heterosexual.
I do want to add one caveat: the only time being gay results in mental harm, is when a gay person actively tries to suppress their physical urges because they are raised in a household that strongly looks down on being gay. In this case any gay people who have come from such a background and have openly admitted to who they are and let their oppressive, bigoted family burn the bridges they want, turn out to be much happier and well-adjusted then when they were chronically lying to themselves.

Funny how all the psychological professionals are wrong just like all the scientists and climatologists isn't it? (*cough, cough*)

Do you have any evidence at all for anything you have said? Other research has repeatedly concluded that alluding to "other research" does not count as actual supporting evidence. Furthermore, studies also indicate you're a moron.

How the heck does "lifestyle" cause people to seek counseling? I don't even know what he means by "lifestyle" or why someone would seek counseling for it.

"The APA has really in large part simply become a political activist organization," Barber decides. "They are no longer objectively a scientific group that views things through an objective prism; but rather, they are pushing a political, sexual, anarchist agenda."
Truth has an Anarchist bias now, it seems. Red Emma would be thrilled at this development
