We've been breeding livestock for over 8000 years, by 5000 years ago many knew sucessive generations could be improved (bigger, smarter, more docile, faster, more wool yield, etc) in contrast especially to inbreed herds which would produce problems.
This is the basics of our understanding of genetics, that and the fact our children resemble us and human family groups carry similiar features. Darwin refined an already known concept by realizing nature itself was capable of changing species forms over generations and that these changes would eventually accumilate and forever seperate populations traits which were seperated by distance and time.
You theologists love to dirty up Darwins theories by pretending Hitlers plans of a master race are related to Darwins theory. Fact is: breeding stronger, smarter, blonde and blue-eyed Germans was a simple case of controlling breeding in the proven and time honored tradition of livestock breeding. This is why he wanted to remove, not just the Jews, but all other races from Germany, including the Gypsys who had become multi-racial even back then.

This is officially the stupidest argument against evolution I've ever heard, and that's saying a lot.
Uh, that's kind of like saying you were never an infant because you can't now give an oral history of your infancy. Even is one were to discount the fact that evolution took millions of years, those from who we descended didn't have the same intellectual capabilties as modern man, Thus, no history, oral or otherwise.

And no biologist believes that we are monkeys. We share a common ancestor with monkeys. But we're more closely related to the Great Apes particularly chimps and bonobos.

beyond the face palm inducing evolutionary stories bullcrap. the reason we have flood stories is because is in early civilization lived in areas that were dried up because of the ice age. when the ice started to melt the early settlements were flooded and there homelands devoured by the seas. it was passed down and dramatized to the ones that you see today

The lack of an ancient evolution story only 'proves' that evolution is a concept ancient humans didn't have. As a biochemist, I despair. I'm pig-sick of trying to explain all the evidence for evolution - and there is a LOT, especially at the molecular level.

Evolution happens too slowly to create stories among ancient tribes. Each generation only lived about 40 years, they didn't have time to observe hundreds of thousands of years.
The reason there are creation stories is that ancient people was curious about where they came from and where they go, so they fantasized about it a lot, and came up with more or less fantastical stories involving magical beings. People lived much more isolated than they do today, so there were lots and lots of different stories, and The Whole World was everything that you could reach in a years travel by foot.
