Ah, yes. Evangelical fundamentalist sympathy in a nutshell: "If you're depressed or miserable or doubting you should never mention it to anyone because it's bad PR."
People sometimes look at me funny when I say I don't really miss "Christian community." If they only knew...

You want blunt?
If I eat today, I'll thank the farmers, engineers, truckers, and grocers that made the transaction possible. Clothes? Cotton pickers, farmers, textile manufacturers, etc. What? You think I'm wearing a fig leaf? God had piss-all to do with it, except in their imaginations. 10,000-plus years of civilization and progress and people are still conflating God with the Sun! I earn the money I spend, and I bend knee to no preacher with his hand inside a sock-puppet god. This is not a kingdom and we are not haunted by ghosts, angels and demons despite all the bullshit to the contrary. Grow up, you simple shit.
Blunt enough?

So... God is an abusive asshole who takes all of the credit for everything good, and none for the bad?

@Blue_J: Well you see PR is very important to evangelical Christians because modern evangelism has taken Christianity and turned it into a pyramid scheme. Making sure every evangelical Christian appears happy at all times is very important for their sales pitch that Jesus will use his Jesus-magic to solve all your problems. Hence why if someone who is in an evangelical church is having emotional problems, the best course of action is for everyone to adopt a "blame the victim" attitude.
Is something wrong with your life, is your faith not bringing you the happiness and fulfillment we promised? Then it's all your fault, you're probably doing something awfully, criminally wrong to deserve it, and you should feel even worse about it.

"God has not been defeated by Satan...."
No He hasn't, not quite yet. However, bit by bit, Satan does appear to be gaining the upper hand, though God is still hanging on in there. Even though it's impossible to see invisible, nonexistent, made-up entities battling we can still know that God is struggling.
For instance, there are still wars on Earth, occasionally even genocides, so Bible God must be managing to land the odd blow here and there. Though we do know He has lost a lot of ground because slavery is mostly frowned on these days and has been largely abolished. Also, we know He is taking a bit of a pummeling because education is more widespread than it was in God's heyday.
Bible God must now hope that His army of drooling zombies can save the day by mobilizing the forces of ignorance and gullibility. His shock troops composed of bigots, fuckwits and jerks may yet help to swing the battle in His favour.

Sorry, do not understand. If it's not about me, why do I feel the pain, the despair, and the sorrow of being alive?
Your god can't feel these things. He's above such stuff, right?
Fuck him!

Why are so many people so very willing to act as a surrogate, *highly* abusive father figure when they find someone feeling distant from their faith?
What about feeling God's love, and knowing him by a personal connection? Are you saying everything that makes you 'know' that God exists is all a bunch of hooey now that someone is looking for that connection but having trouble finding it?
How much did God love Job to torture him, send his family to HELL after killing them, and leaving him a broken shell of a man who only knew how to fear Him?
Quit talking out both sides of face, I'm pretty sure it's a sin.

I owe my mother and father for everything. God - if he 'exists' - is the ultimate absentee parent, then. Your argument is invalid.
The producers who made my food (farmers, factory processing/packaging workers, distributors, retailers etc) I thank, with my custom. Your 'God' - if he 'exists' - did fuck all in the processes throughout. Proof? I work in a computer shop repairing/upgrading/building computers. In all of that time, on all of the components I've installed, they had on such 'Made in China/Japan/South Korea/Malaysia/Indonesia/Thailand/Philippines'.
...nope, no 'Made by God' anywhere on such. Least of all the packaging on the food I eat. Your argument is invalid II.
The Bible I read throughout - cover to cover - in my youth; which made me come to the conclusion that a 'God' didn't exist.
But then, said 'God' hadn't exactly put pen to paper/fingrs on keyboard, proofread, then sent the manuscript/Word documents to the printers, bound & sent to the distributors & ultimately the vendors with "The Bible - written by God" on the cover. Himself.
No only is your argument, but the nub of your whole gist, invalid III, thus you - and your 'God' - have struck out.
(*Dials number on mobile phone*):
Hello? Yes, is that Nietzsche? Well, you were right about God. (*Switches off phone*).
Truth hurts, doesn't it, bitch?! >:D

That stupid ass. What, does he think that his "witness" here will win any souls?
Fuck...no matter what happens, one is supposed to praise his god, because he doesn't owe us a thing, and he can do whatever the fuck he wants.
Problem is: How can you tell if such a being is "good" or not? If bad things happen: we deserve them. If good things happen, it's just more "evidence" of gods' "mercy".

Wait, I thought that works don't matter, and as long as you accept Jesus as your lord and savior nothing else matters?
