Actually, when I was a sixth-grader, there were twins, Charlie and Cathy, in my class, whose mom was a Girl Scout troop leader. Cathy was a member of her mom's troop, and so was Charlie. They were calling Girl Scouts Commies back then, but not because of that. Anybody who'd been using *this* kind of language about Girl Scouts would have wound up singing "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles", by Fels Naptha.

I'm going to assume that Charlie was a boy because it wouldn't really be any meaning to bring it up otherwise.
And if i'm right, so what? why can't the Scouts be gender equal. If you're a boy who don't like the homophobic and bigoted views of the boy scouts* but still want to be a scout what are you supposed to do?
*i don't live in the states and have had no first hand contact with the scouts but from what i've heard they don't generally approve of homosexual or atheist members. I'm not saying that all boy scouts are like this, i'm sure there are nice and tolerant people in them but it's the impression i've got.

A not-far-from-the-truth prejudice is that fundamentalist American christians tend to be fat, if not outright American-way-of-life obese.
A logical conclusion would be that fundamentalist American christians would love the Girl Scouts, at least for their fattening cookies.
I imagine if the Girl Scouts were to sell healthy wholewheat cookies with natural non-sugar sweeteners and lots of fiber, the fundamentalist American christians would denounce them as pinko fascist marxist anti-American liberal elitist [blah, blah, blah] subversives.

Many years ago fundies tried to take over the girl scouts and were expelled/fired etc.
They started their own group of baby bigots called American Heritage Girls
