This is just pathetic. Didn't Americans get their fill of this nonsense back in the Red Scare, when the Commies were supposedly poisoning our minds with fluoridated water and psychotherapy?

Pam Geller loves to lie, especially when it has the potential to stir up unfounded hatred for Muslims. Yes, butterball does package halal turkeys but they export all of them to countries that have a market for halal turkeys. Virtually none of them are sold in the United States but facts hardly ever get in the way of right wing nutjobs.
11/25/2011 2:10:45 AM
The turkeys are kosher, too ... have any opinion about that, Pammy?
11/25/2011 2:11:55 AM
Hey fundies, virtually all fruits and vegetables are halal. Please stop consuming them and their derivatives at once.

And how does she celebrate freedom and inclusiveness? By trying to take away the freedom of another group she doesn't agree with, thereby acting noninclusive. You're a real winner, Pan.
11/25/2011 3:03:33 AM

It's probably kosher, too. This should worry me because...?
11/25/2011 4:42:50 AM
50 years ago the same posting would have been written, only substituting "halal" for "kosher." Hang in there Muslim Americans things will get better.
11/25/2011 5:16:02 AM
Raised by Horses
Should we call in a witch doctor to un-halal the turkey for you?
Seriously, grow a fucking brain already.
11/25/2011 5:53:36 AM
My guess is halal, kosher, and non-sectarian butchering is all the same for poultry- whack off its head.
It's when it comes to cattle, lamb, etc. that I would not want to buy kosher or halal meat, because I think it's cruel.
11/25/2011 6:13:09 AM
Wait till you find out how much of your food is kosher . . .
11/25/2011 6:18:44 AM
Pamela Geller is quite a serious right wing nut, and has previously been linked to groups including the "Knights Templar", which included Anders Breivik, the Norwegian mass-murderer.
11/25/2011 6:35:42 AM
Oh no! I hear if you eat a Halal turkey it will transform you into a Muslim! Better get rid of it and send it to starving people in Africa. They're mostly Muslims there anyway, right?
11/25/2011 6:47:04 AM
Surely that should be "Freedom Dead" turkey?
I have to confess that my Xmas turkey might have been slaughtered in a halal and/or kosher manner, but the streaky bacon that I put on the top or the ham in the stuffing I'm reasonably sure isn't either. It sure is tasty though...
11/25/2011 6:56:36 AM
Vhy iz it zat, on Christmas, ze greatest und most vunderful holiday, vhen ve celebrate ze birth of ze Aryan Christ, ve have to eat kosher turkey?
...Across zis great Reich, on Christmas tables in all of the Vaterland, Germans are unvittingly going to be serving Jewish turkeys to zeir families. Turkeys zat are kosher - who vants zat?
11/25/2011 7:00:46 AM
My turkey is halal and kosher and...and.. *omnom* damned tasty!
Seriously, I really don't care if it's halal, kosher, or fit for pastafarians. If it's safe to eat, then I'm eatin' it. Get off your religioulous high-horse and stuff yer face. It's just turkey, ffs...

Ok, Pam, here is a small fact for you:
Islamic law that defines meat as Halal (permitted) is as simple as the throat of the animal being slit after someone says "Bismillah" which means "in the name of Allah". It is not much different than killing Kosher meat in the Kosher guidelines, which use the name of your God that is based on the Kosher God. You can identify meat that is Kosher by looking for a "K" in a circle on the packaging.
Since you are a Christian, there is a 98% chance that you are going to call upon your God to bless the meal before you eat it. What you are saying is that your God is unable to trump the Islamic God invoked at the time of the animal's killing, Pam. So are you passively admitting that your God is inferior to the Islamic God, also based upon the Kosher God and your god?
I think you're confused, Pam.
11/25/2011 7:28:48 AM
what Thanksgiving represents: freedom and inclusiveness
...except for the gays, atheists, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, democrats, etc..
11/25/2011 8:35:55 AM
Why do I envision Pam Geller as feeling powerful, triumphant, and vengeant by wrapping her halal turkey in bacon?
That's what Jesus loves: hate, vengeance, intolerance. He sure loves Pam.
11/25/2011 9:50:09 AM
"Did you know that the turkey you're going to enjoy on Thanksgiving Day this Thursday is probably halal?"
So? I've eaten kebabs I've bought from takeaways that had on their sign 'Halal' (with the same in Arabic) on such. I'm sucking on a Polo mint right now as I'm typing this; it has the same on the wrapper, indicating that Polos are Halal. I'm an Atheist - as in I don't acknowledge the existence of Allah.
"Hey fundies, virtually all fruits and vegetables are halal. Please stop consuming them and their derivatives at once."
As are all non-alcoholic drinks (especially soft drinks); as are tea and coffee. Even water.
Enjoy your cirrhosis of the liver, Pam.

I eat kosher pickles by the jar. Does that make me Jewish or even less agnostic? No, not really.
Like I said before: It's not some insidious takeover or secret sign of alleigance, it's business branching out by appealing to 'traditional' values of target market. It's cheaper to just prepare the product all one way that covers all the guidelines for legally stamping it as halal/kosher/whatever and then stamp only the meat going to areas with a high Muslim population as such to trick them into thinking the company went out of their way to accomodate their interests. Capitalism, asshat, it works that way.
11/25/2011 10:24:35 AM
Isn't Pam Geller Jewish herself?
Anyway, there is a reason the German government did not ban Halal, and that was because of research showing it is not any more harmful than the standard methods of slauthering animals. In fact, iirc, the research said the animal does not feel anything really painful when being slaughtered according to the Halal guidelines. I do not have the link handy, but I'm sure someone here can dig it up.
11/25/2011 11:15:12 AM
So the gist of this is "ZOMG! THROW THE TURKEY OUT IT'S TAINTED!!!11!!" How is this any different from Christians praying before meals or certifying that food is kosher? Frankly, I don't care if someone sacrificed the turkey to Satan, one superstitious religious belief is the same as all others, and they don't matter to me.
Of course, I think it would be funny if this were written by a vegan trying to pull one over on the fundie Christian carnivores.
11/25/2011 11:15:38 AM
Guys, remember what happens when you assume?
Half the comments on this quote mention Christianity.
Pam is NOT a Christian.
11/25/2011 11:20:16 AM
You are a fucking moron.
Halal doesn't mean that the meat is in any way different from what you would consider your "All-American" turkey. It is a slaughtering method. Period.
