I sometimes wonder if Pat Buchanan ever wakes up in the middle of the night screaming and covered in cold sweats as he realizes that his entire paradigm is defined by cognitive dissonance and that everything he believes is built on a foundation of lies.
I wonder that about a lot of people, really.

If they are actually doing that, then good for them. As for you, Mr. Buchanan, how could you, living in the 21st century, think that egalitarianism and democracy are bad things? Clearly, we should build a time machine in order to send you to Berlin, Germany in 1933. You would surely consider it heaven.

You know, you've been using that particular image macro a lot lately. It's getting kinda old. Do you have any other pictures for us?

They are trying to transform a Western Christian republic....
It never was a "Christian" republic, Pat. The Founding Fathers didn't want any form of religion to be the basis of our law and government.
....into an egalitarian democracy...
Which was what the Founders wanted, and which is incompatible with a "Western Christian republic.
...made up of all the tribes, races, creeds, and cultures of planet Earth.
All creeds were welcomed in America at the beginning. Jefferson was a Deist, but he supported the right of Americans to follow any religion they wished (as long as they didn't try to impose it upon others by force of law).
They have dethroned our God....
Do we puny mortals really have the power to dethrone the Almighty God? Oh, you mean the eeeeevil librulls are simply trying to keep assholes like you from giving your particular "Christian" beliefs political power in America.
...purged our cradle faith from public life...
Our "cradle faith" would probably be Deism, not Christianity. That was the belief system that Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, and most of the Founding Fathers subsribed to.
...and repudiated the Judeo-Christian moral code by which previous generations sought to live.
People in this country have every right to follow the "Judeo-Christian" moral code if the want. They just don't have to right to turn it into our legal code, Pat. There are thousands and thousands of churches and synagogues in America, so I think that system is quite well represented.

Funny, I thought that's what your Founders were trying to do when they wrote your Constitution.
Then again, Pat is merely confirming he is firmly in the batshit-wing of the GOP, as always.

See, I heard him on NPR-in the book, he's actually advocating assimilation of cultures into an American culture.
In other words, colonialism.
GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE, PAT!

Nasty Patsy has always been nasty but the vile crap in his new book and the vile crap he's been spewing on his book tour has reached a whole new level of cruel racism. It's long past time for MSNBC to rmove him as their token racis.. I mean "conservative".

I have to admit that at first, I read "purged our cradle faith from public life" as " purged our cradle of filth from public life" and I was all OH NOES!
That aside, I just find myself wondering about the set of values someone so fiercely against equality among all people must possess.
