You know, Tony, you don't need this to prove that God is a liar, the Bible proves it several times, starting as early as Genesis. Hell, there are passages where Yahweh brags about sending spirits of confusion, IIRC.

Didn't Jesus specifically say "Don't try to figure it out." ?

Another disciple of Harold Camping. My dad turns 70 on the 22nd. He's rather amused by the Camping's prediction. We all expect to be here. Time is running out. I have to get a card and a gift for him.

God isn't a liar, Harold Camping is a false prophet.
That is, unless you consider Camping to be a messiah of some sort.
In that case, I really can't help you much there.
Seriously, with all this talk with the end times occuring in our lifetime, I can't see why people insist it's so bad for them to live on this earth that God must come back during their lifetime.
Personally I find it a bit arrogant to assume that my troubles here on Earth are so bad that God should start Judgement Day already. Sadly there is worse occuring on this planet than what's going on in my life.
But apparently to these people (the end timers), in general, it's already bad enough because of our (the U.S.) economy, we have a Democratic President, the hardcore fundie variety of Christianity cannot assert itself in every aspect of everyone's lives, and oh my, have you all seen the gas prices lately?

Is that when we all get to go to hell where there aren't any crazy fundies and that big hate filled jerk god isn't around to order us about?
YAY! I can't wait!

No no no... you got it wrong. According to The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Judgment Day is now set to occur on 2011-04-21.

He didn't say what year, so he can just claim "Oh, I didn't mean this year, LOL."
You can't win against this kind of delusional mindset.

it HAS to be the Day of Judgment, other wise God is a liar.
So your deconversion takes place on May 22?
Noted!

Look at the small discussion there in the Yahoo forum. Another fundie suggested that the world might be spared, if the people now start to repent. Quote:
"Is it possible, by our earnest prayers and supplication that the world will be spared (given another chance to repent) on May 21, 2011 just like what God did to the Ninevites after responding positively to God's will?
Let's pray earnestly that by God's mercy we might be saved."
Let me guess what will happen at May 22:
"Brother Tony V" won't declare that god is a liar, of course. Instead, he will boast that he and his few fellow faithful have saved the world, by doing all the praying and repenting for all the unthankful sinning unfaithful, who will all burn in hell.

I kind of feel sorry for these people. They spend their whole lives waiting for the end, missing out on everything life has to offer. It's just... really sad.

Just found a link to a very interesting article:
http://motherjones.com/print/106166
The authors describe there what happened when the end of the world (in this case predicted for Dec 21, 1954) didn't happen as predicted by a weird cult.
As always, the cult members put so much emotion into their belief, that immediately rationalization set in. No, they weren't wrong. Quite the contrary: That the end of the world didn't happen proved beyond doubt that the belief of the cult in the prophecy saved the world from destruction! And they immediately began proselytizing...
As history always repeats itself, we might see a nice parallel how "Brother Tony" and other apocalyptic preachers will react on May 22.

Then I really dread the 22nd of December 2012!

Doubting Thomas
What I meant was, will Tony stand by his statement that God is a liar on May 22nd? He claims that the end of the world HAS to be the day of judgement, or else God is lying. I want to see him publicly proclaim that God is a liar on May 22nd. I know it won't happen, and he and everyone else will say they may have miscalculated, didn't mean May 21st 2011, etc, but they're always so sure of the end of the world date before it comes & goes.
Which I think all us atheists should have "End of the World" parties. May 21st is on a Saturday, so we should party as if it really were the last day on earth. Make it kind of a mocking fun party with banners that say, "See you in Hell!" or "Welcome Jesus! Have a beer!"

I am going to hold you to that "if...then" statement.
IF: May 21st is not Judgment Day
THEN: God is a liar
You will have to accept this conclusion on May 22nd if everything's still okay.
